Sarah J. Barstow was born in the town of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], May 28, 1869, and entered into her rest Aug. 30, 1896. She was the daughter of Chauncey Barstow and the adopted daughter of Nathaniel Barstow and wife of Bainbridge, where nearly all her life was spent. She was married May 2, 1886, to Royal Hoskins and one child was born to them. She will be missed by her aged mother, who depended on her for assistance, and a husband and little child who needed her love and care. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the M.E. church at Union Valley, and the interment took place at Union Valley [West Bainbridge, NY].
Abram Davis, late of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], was born in Greenfield, Saratoga county, N.Y., in 1812, and died at his home in Bainbridge March 9, 1886. Mr. Davis removed from Saratoga county to this town and to the farm where he died, in 1846, and was consequently one of the oldest residents of the town. Two years previous to his removal to this section he was married to Miss Mable Parsons, of Guilford, who with nine children, five sons and four daughters, survive him. Mr. Davis was converted some 20 years ago at a camp meeting held near Rockdale, and he immediately united with the M.E. church at Union Valley and continued a consistent member of the same until his death. Mr. Davis was a man upright in character and life, according to his profession; a man who enjoyed the confidence of those who knew him best, and was highly esteemed. He will be not only greatly missed by his family, but also by the church and entire community.
Mrs. Agusta Davis, wife of Marcus Davis, died quite suddenly on Thursday morning last of cancer of the stomach. the funeral was held on Sunday at 1 o'clock at the house, Rev. E. Kilpatrick officiating. Interment in the West Bainbridge cemetery [Chenango Co., NY]. The deceased was 46 years of age and leaves a husband and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. [d. DAVIS--In Bainbridge, May 23 [1892], Hiram Davis, aged 72 years. Hiram Davis, an old resident who lived about three miles north of this village, died Monday night, after two years of ill health, at the age of seventy two years. the funeral was held at the residence Thursday, at 12 o'clock p.m., with burial in the Episcopal cemetery, this village [Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY]
PARSONS--In Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], March 4, Mrs. Nelson Parsons, aged 76 years. At exactly eleven o'clock Friday evening of last week, Mrs. Nelson Parsons died of typhoid pneumonia, at the age of 76 years. The funeral services were held at the late residence on Evans street, Sunday at two o'clock, Rev. D.N. Grummon officiating. The burial was in Green Lawn cemetery.
Guilford [Chenango Co., NY]: Eliza, wife of Conrad Schweitzer passed away at her home in Mt. Upton April 8th. She was born in Stanton Island, April 8th, 1848. Burial was made in Godfrey cemetery [Guilford, NY]. [Bainbridge Republican, April 26, 1923]
Masonville [Delaware Co., NY]: William Woodmansee who has been poorly for some time past died Saturday May 5th, 1923 aged 86 years. The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at his late home. Rev. R. Whitman officiated. Burial in the Masonville cemetery. He leaves a wife and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Avery of Oxford and Mrs. Lulu Case of Kingston, also one brother of Holmesville. Merritt S. Winsor, a lifelong resident of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY] died after a long illness. The subject of this short sketch was born in Guilford December 21, 1853 and died May 1, 1923 at the Turner place in the village of Guilford where he had made his home for a number of years. Had Mr. Winsor lived until his next birthday he would have been 70 years old. He suffered a shock about seven years ago, from which he never fully recovered. An attack of grippe last winter together with a weak heart hastened the end which came rather suddenly. Mr. Winsor was the eldest of three children of the late Joseph and Lucinda Winsor of Guilford. He was united in marriage January 22, 1880 to Carrie E. Winsor of Greene, N.Y. who died April 10, 1911. The thirty-one years of their married life was spent at Winsor's Corners. the funeral was held from his late residence May 3rd Rev. W.S. York officiating. ....His body was laid to rest in the family lot in Sunset Hill cemetery [Guilford, NY]. [Bainbridge Republican, May 10, 1923]
