Colburn - Ham

 

Martha Louise Ham

Mr. and Mrs. Philip W. Ham of Keyes avenue have announced the engagement of their daughter, Martha Louise, to Walter L. Colburn of Chatham, NJ, son of Captain and Mrs. Erwin F. Colburn.  The wedding is planned for the summer of 1954.  Miss Ham was graduated from Nott Terrace high school and attended the University of New Hampshire.  She is now at Ohio State University, where she is majoring in occupational therapy.  She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority.  Mr. Colburn was graduated form Chatham high school and the University of New Hampshire, and is doing graduate work at the University of Cincinnati, where he has a teaching assistance ship in biochemistry.  He is a member of Acacia fraternity and Alpha Zeta and Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternities.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Philip Ham, of Schenectady, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Martha Louise, to Walter l. Colburn, son of Capt. and Mrs. Erwin F. Colburn, of Chatham, N.J., on Saturday, June 19, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Schenectady.  Miss Marjorie Ham, of Schenectady, was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Miss Frances Rowe, of Schenectady, Mrs. Richard Colburn, of New Providence, N.J., and Miss Nancy Thielking, of Amsterdam.  Richard Colburn, of New Providence, N.J. was best man for his brother. The ushers were Robert Anderson, of Chatham, N.J.; G. Rodman Davenport, of Rochester, N.H.; Marc Colburn, of Reading, Mass. and Clarke Dowling, of Poughkeepsie.  The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Nichols of Bainbridge.

 

 Ham - Nichols

A very charming wedding was that of Philip Ham and Miss Marion Nichols in the Methodist Episcopal church of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, August 15 [1931].  The bride, on the arm of her father, L.L. Nichols, was preceded by her bridesmaid, Miss Carol Louise Nichols, and two ushers, William Tregurtha and Arthur Sherburne, both of Schenectady.  She was met at the altar by the groom, accompanied by his brother, Everet Ham.  The ceremony as performed by the Rev. Robert L Clark, an uncle of the bride, assisted by Rev. Clarence Carman, pastor of the church.  The organist Mrs. Albert C. Wilcox, gave a very pleasing recital while the guests were being seated, changing to the familiar strains of the Lohengrin wedding march as the bridal party entered. The double ring service was used.  The bride was lovely in conventional white, carrying a sheaf of white gladiolas.  For the traditional "something old" she wore a dainty pin made from the wedding ear rings of her father's mother.  Mrs. George Nichols.  The bridesmaid was not less lovely in pink chiffon and picture hat with an armful of pink flowers. The altar was decorated with a profusion of beautiful gladiolas.  Following the ceremony about fifty guests attended the reception at the Old Elm farm. Well showered with good wishes and confetti the bridal pair left for a three week's motor trip after which they will be at home at 34 Western Parkway, Schenectady.  The many gifts were both lovely and useful.  Miss Nichols is a graduate of Bainbridge high School and of the New York State College for Teachers. For a year she has been librarian and teacher of music and art at Greenport, L.I.  Mr. Ham is a graduate of the University of Maine and a member of Sigma Chi.  He is a chemist in the research department of the General Electric Company, Schenectady. 

Mr. & Mrs. Aaron S. Snyder

Mr. and Mrs. Aaron S. Snyder, who celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary at Cobleskill [Schoharie Co., NY] on Monday of last week, are known for their keen interest in community affairs.  He is 96 and she is 94.  Both are well and active.

Elgena - Ewain

The Rev. Carl E. Elgena, pastor of the Hancock Baptist Church, was married to Miss Bernice Ewain, teaching at East Branch, on Monday, May 22, in the Great Valley Baptist church, where Mr. Elgena's twin brother, the Rev. Kenneth Elgena, is pastor, the brother performing the wedding ceremony.

Hanson - Meeker

Miss Alyce Meeker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meeker, of West Windsor [Broome Co., NY], became the bride of Private Gerald Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Hanson, of Windsor, at a ceremony in the Episcopal Church May 27.  The Rev. James Root, rector, officiated.  Miss Helen Havholm was maid of honor and First Class Private John Olin of the U.S. Marine Corps was best man.  A reception was held in the Colonial Inn, Susquehanna. The bride will reside with her parents and the bridegroom will return to Atlantic City, where he is stationed.

Signor - Harris

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar R. Harris, of Masonville [Delaware Co., NY], announce the engagement of their daughter, Marguerite D., to Allyn C. Signor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Signor, of Walton [Delaware Co., NY].  The wedding will take place in the latter part of June.
