Obituaries (April 18)

Jane Hamblin
Northern Christian Advocate, April 3, 1850
Jane [Hamblin] wife of Heman Hamblin, died in Wilson, N.Y. [Niagara Co.], March 21, 1850, aged 44 years. She had been an acceptable member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for about twelve years past.  Her piety was very sincere, and of a stern cast.  For the last few months she was afflicted with aberration of mind of a somewhat peculiar kind, and yet in religious things she seemed to be quite sane.  In her most rational moments her hope in Christ was most firm, and she longed to depart and be with the Lord. There are left a husband and three children to mourn her departure.   D.B. Lawton

Margaret Morsell
Northern Christian Advocate, April 3, 1850
Margaret Morsell, widow of Kidd morsell, died suddenly, of hemorrhage of the lungs, at the house of Rev. G. Osband, at Macedon Centre, N.Y. [Wayne Co.], Feb. 17, 1850, aged 81 years, 10 months, and 11 days.  Mother M. in her youth was a member of the Presbyterian Church, but thought she had no experimental knowledge of the religion of Christ, till she sat under the ministry of the Rev. Wm. Ryland, in Prince George Co., Md., some 45 years since.  Since about the time of her conversion, her interests have been intimately identified with the M.E. Church. She has been a cheerful and faithful contributor to the charitable and benevolent institutions of the Church. She has also been characterized for her ardent religious devotions, and her unshaken confidence in a special Devine Providence.  Death came suddenly, but the evidence that she was ready for the summons, is every way satisfactory to all who knew her.  "The righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance."   P. McKinstry

-?- Crapo
Chenango American, January 10, 1856
A sad accident occurred about one mile east of Chenango Forks [Broome Co., NY], on Tuesday morning last.  A man named Crapo, a resident of Lisle [Broome Co., NY], was out rabbit hunting, in company with his brother.  It appears from his own statement, that he was standing on a stump, with his gun, a double-barreled one, resting by his side; and that while in the act of stooping to remove some obstruction, his gun slipped off from the stump, and in its decent, the hammers of both barrels caught, discharging their contents in his left side, forcing a portion of his clothing completely into his body, breaking two ribs, and lacerating his flesh horribly.  Medical assistance was immediately rendered, but he was beyond the reach of human aid.  He lingered in the most excruciating agony until Wednesday morning, when he expired.  He leaves a family to mourn his untimely end.
