Kittie Wheeler Buell
November 14, 1851 - February 5, 1932 (in Norwich, NY)
Mrs. Kittie Wheeler Buell, 80, died at her home, 24 Silver street [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY] Friday noon after a long illness. the deceased was born in Edmeston [Otsego Co., NY], Nov. 14, 1851 and with the exception of 10 years spent in Michigan had lived all her long life in New York state. Mrs. Buell was a member of Broad street M.E. church and was held in high regard by all with whom she was acquainted. She was twice married. Her first husband was Lewis A. Sherwood. After his death she was united in marriage with George H. Buell of Plasterville, now deceased. There survive a sister, Mrs. Ella Wheeler of Bignall, Nebraska, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Broad street M.E. church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Rev. J.W. Nicholson officiating, with burial in Mt. Hope [Norwich, NY].
Clayton Buell
August 25, 1893 - January 23, 1939 (in Norwich, NY)
Clayton Riley Buell of Brown avenue [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], proprietor of the Buell Bakery and Buell's Recreation Center, died at the Chenango Memorial Hospital at 11:20 Monday night after an illness of about three weeks. Mr. Buell was born in Plymouth [Chenango Co., NY] August 25, 1893, but had been a resident of Norwich for many years. For several years he conducted Buell's Bakery on Brown avenue and for the last three years he had operated the Buell Recreation Center, a popular bowling resort. The deceased was a member of Norwich lodge F.&A.M., was held in the highest esteem by many friends and his death will be keenly regretted by all with whom he was acquainted. There survive his wife; his mother, Mrs. Dana Buell, and a brother, Glen Buell, all of Norwich. The remains will be at the late residence, 22 Brown avenue. Funeral services will be held at the Breese Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev. George B. Callender officiating, with burial in Mt. Hope cemetery [Norwich, NY]. Members of the Masonic lodge will meet at the Masonic temple at 7 o'clock Thursday night for the purpose of conducting a service at the late home of Mr. Buell at 7:30.
Lee Brookins
Died January 1942 in Healdsburg, CA
Lee Brookins, father of Police Chief Lelan M. Brookins and brother of Fire Chief L.C. Brookins of this city [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], died at Healdsburg, Calif., Wednesday, according to information received in Norwich by the son. Funeral services were held Friday. Besides Police Chief Brookins there survive the widow and two sons, Lee and Rex of Healdsburg and a daughter, Mrs. Joy Ashdown of Oakland, Calif. Nelson Brookins of Plymouth and Arthur Brookins of North Norwich are brothers of the deceased in addition to Fire Chief Brookins. The late Mr. Brookins was 76 years of age.
Marjorie Arlene Brooker
December 16, 1929 - February 25, 1931
Marjorie Arlene [Brooker], 14 months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Menzo Brooker was called from her dear home here on earth to her heavenly home on Feb. 25, 1931 at 2:30 a.m., where God and his angels will watch over her. The deceased was born Dec. 16, 1929 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY]. She was a premature baby weighing only 3 lb. and 5 oz. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Menzo Brooker resided near Chenango lake. Besides her parents she leaves to mourn her loss a grandmother, Mrs. James Bowers of North Norwich, a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Funeral services were held at her late home on Feb. 28, 1931. Rev. D.H. Woodward conducted the services at 2:00 p.m., and at the grave. Interment was made at the Riverside cemetery in South new Berlin, N.Y. [Chenango Co.]
Dr. John T. Hand
Died April 8, 1914
Dr. John T. Hand, of New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], died in St. Luke's Hospital, Utica [Oneida Co., NY] Wednesday morning, following an operation for appendicitis. He was 55 years of age, and a former resident of this village. Funeral will be held from his late home in New Berlin, Saturday afternoon at one o'clock.
Sarah Garner
Died April 8, 1914 in South New Berlin, NY
The death of Mrs. Sarah Garner occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Bailey, on Wednesday morning, April 8, 1914, following a severe illness of pneumonia. She was about 77 years of age and had always resided in this community. The funeral will be held from her late home on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.
Harriet Gage
Died April 7, 1914 in Binghamton, NY
Mrs. Harriet Gage, for a great many years a respected resident of this village, after an illness of several weeks passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.R. Wightman, in Binghamton, Tuesday morning, April 7, 1914, at the advanced age of 84 years. The remains were brought to this village and funeral held at the Baptist church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. L.E. Wheeler, officiating. Interment in the family plot in Riverside cemetery. Deceased is survived by three children, Mrs. Kate Mahan, Mrs. Stephen Bailey, of this village and Mrs. A.R. Wightman, of Binghamton.
