Emma Harrington

At her home in King Settlement [Chenango Co., NY] early Saturday morning occurred the death of Emma Harrington, aged 85 years. Deceased had been ill but a short time and her passing came suddenly. She was born in Wales. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Breese funeral home with Rev. James K. Romeyn, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. The body will be placed in the vault at Mt. Hope cemetery [Norwich, NY]. Surviving are a son, Clarence Harrington of Norwich R.D. 3; a daughter, Mrs. Adella Roe of Oxford and two grandchildren, Willard Wilcox of South New Berlin and Mrs. Julia McLaury of King Settlement with whom Mrs. Harrington made her home. Ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Jessie (Baumes) Harrington
Died October 9, 1942
Edmeston [Otsego Co., NY]: Mrs. Jessie Harrington, 46, school teacher in this area for the past 25 years, died Oct. 9, 1942, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown [Otsego Co., NY]. She was born in Hartwick [Otsego Co., NY], daughter of Phillip and Abbie Robinson Baumes and lived most of her life in this area. She attended the Hartwick and Oneonta schools and was a graduate of Oneonta Normal School. Her 25 years of teaching included 13 years in Hartwick. Mrs. Harrington was married in 1929 to Bruce Harrington who survives, with a daughter, Erma Marie, both of Edmeston; two sisters, Mrs. David Carr, Hartwick and Mrs. Joseph Grossback, East Schodack and a brother, Charles Baumes, Hartwick. Mrs. Harrington was a member of the Reformed Church of St. Johnsville and the Schoolteachers' Club and Order of Eastern Star in Hartwick. A prayer service was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Houck Funeral Home, Edmeston, by the Rev. Daniel Dunbar and the funeral service was at 2:30 p.m. in the Christian Church, Hartwick with the Rev. E.W. Hargrave officiating. Burial was in the Hartwick cemetery.
Jessie Lily (Crain) Harrington
Died December 15, 1943
Mrs. Jessie Lily Harrington, wife of Albert Harrington, died very suddenly of heart failure at her home in Pittsfield [Otsego Co., NY], last Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1943. Mrs. Harrington was the daughter of the late Stephen B. and Elizabeth (Bailey) Crain and was born on March 10, 1882 at Yalevile, N.Y. [Chenango Co.] Much of her early life was spent in South New Berlin, where she attended the local school. She was united in marriage on April 8, 1903 to Albert L. Harrington, who survives together with the following four daughters: Mrs. Byron May, of South new Berlin, N.Y., Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Fayette, N.Y.; Mrs. Rolland Hickling, Edmeston, N.Y.; also several grandchildren; a daughter Melba May, died in infancy. The bereaved husband and family have the sincere sympathy of the community in the loss of a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Harrington was a member of the Baptist church. The funeral was held from the Dakin funeral home in New Berlin Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Davis E. Gage, pastor of the New Berlin Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in Fairview cemetery, New Berlin. Mrs. Harrington had resided with her family in Pittsfield for the past twenty-eight years.
Angeline Sophia Harris
Died July 28, 1938
At her home, 136 North Broad street [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], Thursday evening about 7:40 o'clock, after a long illness occurred the death of Angeline Sophia Harris, daughter of the late Dr. Blin and Polly Ross Harris. She was a granddaughter of Captain John Harris, who came to Norwich in 1798, having purchased the northeast quarter of the town, which extended from what is now East Side Park northward to the Browning boundary of which the Harris homestead is a part. The house in which she was born and had always lived was built by her father, Dr. Blin Harris, in 1847. She was a member of the Captain John Harris chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Miss Harris is survived by one sister, Miss Jennie L. Harris, and three nieces Mrs. Polly Harris Bake, Lucy and Charlotte Harris, daughters of the late Dr. Blin Harris. One sister, Charlotte Harris Lancing, died January 20, 1914, and another sister, Jessie Mae Harris, died February 22, 1919. An only brother, Dr. Blin A. Harris died December 24, 1916. Private funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the residence. Rev D.G. DeBoer, pastor of the First Congregational church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery [Norwich, NY].
Ella Mary (Blackman) Harris
Died July 18, 1927
Mrs. Ella Mary Harris, wife of Legrande H. Harris, passed away at her home in Holmesville, N.Y. [Chenango Co.], Monday, July 18, 1927, after an illness of seven weeks. She was born in this County August 22, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Blackman, and had been a resident of Holmesville several years. She was a member of the Baptist church. Beside the husband, she is survived by two daughters, Maude Harris Cope, of White Store, and Ethel R. Cope, of Norwich; one brother, C.A. Blackman, of Edmeston. The funeral was held from her late home in Holmesville, Thursday, July 21, 1927, at 2 o'clock, Rev. M.R Weaver, officiating. Burial was at White Store [Chenango Co., NY].
Legrand H. Harris
Died September 8, 1935
The death of Legrand H. Harris occurred at the home of his sister, where the deceased made his home, Rockwells Mills [Chenango Co., NY], Sunday, September 8, 1935, following an illness of several months. Mr. Harris was born in the town of Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], June 19, 1860. He was the son of the late Charles H. Harris and Marietta Phetteplace Harris. In 1881 Mr. Harris married Ella Blackman. Her death occurred in 1928. Besides a sister, Mrs. Florence Smith of White Store, two daughters survive, Mrs. Ethel R. Smith of Norwich and Mrs. Maude H. Cope of White Store. Funeral services were held at his late home, Rockwells mills, Wednesday, Sept. 11, Rev. G.H. Simons of Holmesville officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery at White Store [Chenango Co.].
