David G. Aplin
Died July 17, 1937 in Norwich, NY

David G. Aplin, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Aplin of Norwich, R.D. [Chenango Co., NY] died Saturday night within a half hour after his birth at the home of his parents.  Interment was made Monday afternoon in the Norwich Quarter cemetery.  Besides the parents, a brother, Robert, survives.

Martha C. Anderson
Died March 12, 1942 in New Berlin, NY

The many friends of Mrs. D.E. Anderson are sorry to learn that she does not seem to recover from her recent auto accident in Binghamton [Broome Co., NY] when she suffered serious chest and head injuries.  On Monday she was taken to the Chase Memorial hospital at New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], for observation and treatment.  Her friends hope to hear of a betterment in her condition.

Later:  Mrs. Anderson passed away Thursday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock, aged 60 years.  The funeral services will take place at the Breese Funeral home in Norwich Sunday afternoon at 2:30. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to Mr. Anderson and family.

Mrs. Martha C. Anderson, wife of Dan E. Anderson of the Chenango Lake road, died in the Chase Memorial Hospital at New Berlin Thursday afternoon at 1:45, aged 60 years.  Mrs. Anderson's death is attributed to injuries she suffered in an automobile accident about four weeks ago near Binghamton when the Anderson automobile figured in a collision with a bus.  Mrs. Anderson was born in Owego Sept. 20, 1881. She was united in marriage with Mr. Anderson Sept. 22, 1937, in New York city.  Mrs. Anderson sustained an injury to her head and is believed to have received internal injuries. She is survived by her husband, four stepchildren, Laverne Anderson of South new Berlin, Miss Olive Anderson of Castle Point, and Richard and Donald Anderson of the Chenango Lake road. Two brothers and two sisters also survive.  Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Baptist church at South New Berlin and the Victor Rebeckah lodge at South New Berlin.

Anderson, 56, a farmer, widower, of Norwich, and Miss Martha Caroline Hollenback, 55, of 507 West 121st street, New York, will be married here on September 15 in Riverside church.  The ceremony will be performed by the Rev. Eugene Carder. They procured a license to wed at the marriage bureau here Monday afternoon.  Mr. Anderson was born in Norwich, the son of Orrin L. and Alice Skinner Anderson.  Miss Hollenback, who is the daughter of William H. and Mary Hollenback, was born in Owego, N.Y.

Wednesday September 22, Miss Martha C. Hollenback of New York, formerly of Owego [Tioga Co., NY, and Daniel E. Anderson of Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], were married in Riverside church in new York.  Mr. and Mr.s Anderson will reside in Norwich.

Alice C. Anderson

Died May 27, 1935 in New Berlin, NY

The death of Alice C. Anderson, wife of Orrin L. Anderson, occurred at 9 o'clock Monday night at the family home in the town of New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], five miles east of this city.  Mrs. Anderson, a lifelong resident of this vicinity and very well known, was 74 years of age. Besides her husband, one son, Daniel E., of the town of Norwich and three grandchildren, survive. Her death is not only a great sorrow to her family but to a wide circle of friends as well. The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Breese funeral home in Norwich. Rev. N.S. McPherson, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Anna E. Teed

July 28, 1868 - August 9, 1946

Mrs. Anna E. Teed, 10 River street, passed away at the Sidney hospital this afternoon following a heart attack.  She was the widow of Elmer Teed. who passed away some years ago.  Mrs. Teed was born July 28, 1868, at Cannonsville [Delaware Co., NY].  She is survived by two sons, William Teed of this place, with whom she resided, and Robert Teed of Elmira.  Funeral services will be held at the Carr & Landers funeral parlors Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Carlton Opdyke, pastor of the Congregational church will officiate. The burial will be in Prospect Hill cemetery [Sidney, Delaware Co., NY]

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna E. Teed were held at the Carr and Landers Funeral Parlors Monday afternoon, August 13, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Carlton Opdyke, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiated.  Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Teed had her home on River street with her son, William E. Teed, where she passed away Thursday, August 9, at 5:30 p.m.  She was taken ill the previous Tuesday afternoon.  Mrs.Teed was born July 28, 1868, at Cannonsville. She married Elmer Teed in 1886 and they lived in Masonville for three years.  They came to Sidney to reside 54 years ago.  Mr. Teed passed away about 12 years ago.  Mr. Teed passed away about 12 years ago.  Mrs. Teed was a member of the Congregational Church.  She is survived by two sons, William E. Teed, employed in Scintilla, and Robert Teed of Elmira, and a granddaughter, Freda Teed.  She is also survived by nephews and nieces.  A son, Raymond Teed, passed away in 1917.

Edson Smith

June 9, 1914 - June 24, 1944

Reported killed in action in France on June 24 is Pvt. Edson H. Smith, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fayette L. Smith of Bianbridge [Chenango Co., NY]. according to a telegram received from the War Department.  Previously his parents had received a telegram stating that he was missing in action on that date.  Pvt. Smith, who was an infantryman, had been in France since the invasion of Normandy. The last letter his parents received form him was dated June 18, just six days before the fatal hour.  Edson entered the service April 1, 1942, and received his training at Camp Croft, S.C., Camp Gordon, Ga., and Camp Gordon Johnston, Fla., and arrived in England in January of this year.  He has three brothers in the service, Pfc. Harold Smith, who is in England, Lt. Robert F. Smith, a pilot in Italy, and Fayette L. Smith, Jr., S 2/C, AOM, of Memphis, Tenn.  Pvt. Smith was born in Bainbridge June 9, 1914.  He attended Bainbridge High School and St. Peter's Church. Before entering the service he was employed at the Scintilla Magneto Co., Sidney.  Surviving besides his parents and three brothers already mentioned are two brothers, Claude Smith and Kenneth Smith, both of Bainbridge; his grandmother, Mrs. Belle Smith and an aunt, Mrs. Nina Lovejoy, both of Harpursville.
