Married:  In this village [Oxford, Chenango Co., NY], on the 23d ult., by Rev. L.H. Stanley, Mr. James H. Preston to Mrs. Esther Merrell, both of Norwich [Chenango co., NY].

Married:  In Coventry [Chenango Co., NY], Jan. 28th, by Rev. J.B. Hoyt, Mr. Benj. Hathway of Cannonsville [Delaware Co., NY], to Miss Sybil E. [Blake], daughter of Dea. Ithuel Blake of the former place.

Married:  In Greene [Chenango Co., NY], on the 19th ult. by Rev. D.C. Dutcher, Mr. Henry Marvin to Miss Cynthia Baldwin, all of Greene.  

Married:  On the 23d, by the same, Mr. Alfred Alexander of Greene [Chenango Co., NY] to Miss Lydia A. VanOstrand of Smithville [Chenango Co., NY].

Died:  In North Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], on the 18th ult., of typhoid fever, Mrs. Lucy E. [Pike] wife of Samuel H. Pike, aged 30 years.  Also, on the 21st ult. of the same disease, Mr. Samuel H. Pike, aged 37 years,.  Their remains were interred in one grave.

Died:  In Preston [Chenango Co., NY], on the 11th ult. Miss Sophia Bliven, aged 61 years.

Died:  In Sherburne [Chenango Co., NY], on the 8th ult. Mr. Titus Mennill, aged 66 years.

Died:  In Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], on the 18th ult., Mr. Elias Ives, aged 84 years.

Died:  In McDonough [Chenango Co., NY], on the 28th ult., Mrs. Hannah Wilcox, aged 39 years.

Married:  In this village, on the 4th inst. by Rev. J.G. Bartholomew, Mr. Henry A. Baxter to Miss Martha Nicholas, all of Oxford.

Died:  At the White Store, in Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], on the 1st inst., suddenly, Mr. Jacob B. Reynolds, aged 47 years.

Died:  In Plymouth [Chenango Co., NY], on the 23d ult. Lauren C. Head, aged 49 years.

Died:  In Coventry [Chenango Co., NY], on the 25th ult. Elizabeth A. [Prindle], wife of Dr. R.B. Prindle, aged 23 years.

Died:  In Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], March 2d, Mr. Alfred Baker, aged 88 years.

Married:  In South New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], on the 9th inst. by Rev. M.S.Wells, Mr. E.L. Guild formerly of West Winfield, to Miss Juliana B. [Harris], adopted daughter of Gen. Levi Harris.

Married:  In Deposit [Delaware Co., NY], on the 4th inst. by Rev. C.V. Arnold, Mr. S.D. Hulce, Senior, Editor of the Deposit Union, to Miss Martha R. Winchell, of East Jewett, Greene county [NY].

Died:  In Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], on the 10th inst. Miss Matilda L. [Park], daughter of Ebenezer Park, aged 23 years.

Died:  At Whitney's Point [Broome Co., NY], on the 28th Feb., Virgil Corwin [Spencer], youngest son of the late Doct. H.D. Spencer of South Bainbridge, and adopted son of John W. and Caroline M. Blakeslee, aged 2 years and 4 months.

Oxford Times, March 24, 1858

Frozen to Death:  A man named Hazard Smith was frozen to death on Friday night, the 5th, near East Worcester, Otsego County [NY].  He left East Worcester, about 11 o'clock at night with his sleigh and horses for his home on South hill, rather the worse for liquor. About a mile from the village his team left the road and wandered into some bushes and stopped.  He was not found until Saturday night, and then some 20 rods from the team, had his coat, vest and boots off, and laid on his back on the snow with his hands folded across his breast.  He was about 70 years of age.

Married:  In McDonough, on the 8th inst. by Rev. Mr. Curtiss, Mr. Ray D. Dwight of Cincinnatus [Cortland Co., NY], to Miss Betsey M. Moore of McDonough.

Married:  In Greene [Chenango Co., NY], on the 15th inst. by Rev. J.D. Webster, Mr. Elijah A. Cowan to Miss Theresa M. Mullen, both of Greene.
