Burton E. Sage

Died December 1, 1921, New Berlin, NY

Funeral services for Burton E. Sage will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial at South New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY].  Mr. Sage died Thursday at Holmesville [Chenango Co., NY], aged 56 years.  He had been a sufferer of Bright's disease for a year.  Mr. Sage was born March 25, 1865, on the farm where he died.  He was the son of George H. and Harriet Trass Sage. February 7, 1894 he married Nettie Greene, who survives him.  He also leaves a son, Ralph Sage of Holmesville; three brothers, George E. Sage and Harvey Sage of Norwich and Daniel Sage of Sidney and two sisters, Mrs. Charles White and Mrs. Charles Littlefair, both of this city, besides many other relatives, the Sage family being one of the earliest to settle in the Unadilla valley and always leading in its business and social life.

Harriet E. Sage

Died July 23, 1932, New Berlin, NY

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet E. Sage of Holmesville [Chenango Co., NY], who died at her home Saturday, aged 87 years, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home with interment in South New Berlin.  Mrs. Sage was born in Jamesville [Onondaga Co., NY] Oct. 8, 1844, but had been a resident of this county for a great many years. She had lived on the farm on which she died for 60 years.  She had lived on the farm on which she died for 60 years.  She was a member of the Free Baptist church of Holmesville, and had a wide circle of friends who will mourn her passing. She was united in marriage with George Sage in 1854, and his death occurred in 1909.  Of six children born of that union five are living, one, Bert, having died in 1921. The following survive:  George E. Sage, Mrs. Charles Littlefair and Daniel Sage of Norwich; Mrs. Charles White of Syracuse and Harvey Sage of Smithville Flats.

Jewett P. Sage

Died May 21, 1939, Norwich, NY

Jewett P. Sage, a resident of this city for the past 30 years, died at his home, 40 West Main street about 12:15 Sunday morning, after a brief illness.  Mr. Sage was born in New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], but had resided here a great many years during which time he was employed by the Hickock Coal Company.  He was a member of Norwich lodge of Masons and was held in high regard by many friends. There survive his widow, Mrs. Emma Sage; a brother, Henry Sage of South New Berlin, and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Angell of Mt. Upton, also one niece and two nephews. Services will be held at the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev D.G. DeBoer officiating with burial in South New Berlin.  A meeting of the members of Norwich lodge of Masons has been called for 7 o'clock tonight for the purpose of conducting brief services at the Sage home at 7:30 this evening.

Services for J.P. Sage were held from the family home on West Main street at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. D.G DeBoer officiating. The funeral was largely attended and there was a fine floral tribute.  Interment was made in South New Berlin. Acting as bearers were William A. Baldwin, Chas. R. Kroeger, Clinton Corey, Arthur J. Brainer, Chas. H. Hunt and T. M. Weems.

Lizzie Belle (Austin) Sage

South New Berlin Bee, July 12, 1930

Lizzie Belle Sage, who has all her life been a well known and honored resident of the vicinity of South New Berlin, passed away on June 25  at 2:15 a.m., after a long severe illness.  She was the daughter of Webster and Sarah Conde Austin, and was married to Henry Nelson Sage on December 9, 1892.  Mrs. Sage was a member of the Willing Workers Circle of the King's Daughters, and until her illness prevented, was President of the Women's Auxiliary of Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church.  The members recently elected her President Emeritus of the organization.  She has long been interested in Sunday School work, for a long time being in charge of the Primary Department of the Baptist church.  She was one of the organizers of the Fortnightly Study Club of South New Berlin and took an active part in that work for many years. She was  greatly beloved by a wide circle of friends who mourn her loss.  The funeral service was held from her late residence on Saturday, June 28th, and was conducted by Rev. Dr. Henry Hale Gifford, the minister in charge of St. Matthew's Chruch.  er immediate surviving relatives are her husband, Mrs. F.L. Wooster of Binghamton, her sister, and a brother, Millard E Austin of South New Berlin and his children, three nieces ad one nephew.  A large congregation attended the memorial service on Sunday night in St. Matthew's Episcopal church in South new Berlin.
