Albert W. Salisbury

Died August 17, 1929, Norwich, NY

Albert W. Salisbury died at the home of his son, Raymond Salisbury, on the Chenango lake road [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY] at 5 o'clock this morning, after a lingering illness.  Mr. Salisbury would have been 60 years old Wednesday, August 21.  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leland Brookins on the Chenango lake road; Mrs. Guy Wright of Unadilla, and one son, Raymond Salisbury; two brothers, Eugene Salisbury of Unadilla, and Charles Salisbury of Greene; one sister, Miss Cora Salisbury of Greene, and nine grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held from the home Tuesday, August 20, at 2 o'clock.  Rev. D.G. DeBoer will officiate, with burial in the Norwich Quarter cemetery.

Anna Maye Salisbury

Died September 24, 1935, Norwich, NY

Illness of only a week terminated Tuesday night at 8:20 in the death of Mrs. Anna Maye Salisbury at her home, 9 Pleasant street [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY].  Mrs. Salisbury was 63 years of age and was the widow of Clark G. Salisbury.  Born in Kent, England, she came to this country when a small child, and for the past 22 years had resided in this city, where for 17 years prior to her illness and death she had been employed by the Norwich Pharmacal Company.  Her passing will be learned with regret by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who will extend their condolences to the bereaved family.  Surviving are a daughter, Lola M. Mundy of Norwich; a son, Alton Salisbury of Sherburne; a brother, Charles Sancett of Syracuse; four grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.  Funeral services will be held from the Breese funeral home on South Broad street Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in the hillside cemetery in Georgetown [Madison Co., NY].

Joshua Clark, Celinda Winsor & Charles E. Salisbury

Three inmates of the Chenango county welfare home at Preston have passed away within the past two days.  Joshua Clark, aged 91 years, was the first to answer the call of death.  His demise was followed by the passing of Mrs. Celinda Winsor, and early Friday morning Charles E. Salisbury was summoned.

Mr. Clark, who had been an inmate of the home for seven years, formerly resided in Afton [Chenango Co., NY], where funeral services will be held Monday.  Interment will be made at McClure [Broome Co., NY].  He is survived by three sons, Lester of Endicott, Hudson and Jesse of Afton, and one grandson, Roy of Afton.  His death occurred Wednesday night at 9:30 [April 23, 1930].

Mrs. Winsor, who passed away Thursday night about 7 o'clock [April 24, 1930], was only admitted to the home on Monday of this week.  She formerly resided in Norwich [Chenango Co., NY] and is survived by a niece, Mrs. Earl Aldrich of Haynes.  Funeral services will be held at the William Breese parlors Saturday at 1 o'clock, Rev. D.G. DeBoer officiating.

Charles E. Salisbury went to the home last December.  His death occurred at 1 o'clock this morning [April 25, 1860] at the age of 40 years.  He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Dwight Salisbury of Greene, and a nephew, Harry Salisbury of Oxford road. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon.

Cora Estella Salisbury

Died May 7, 1935, Norwich, NY

Mrs. Cora Estella Salisbury, wife of Dwight Salisbury, died at her home on the East River road at 12:30 Tuesday noon, aged 64 years. The deceased was born March 28, 1871 in Unadilla [Otsego Co., NY], but had been a resident here for many years. She had been ill about a week.  Surviving besides her husband are four sons, Harry N. Salisbury of Norwich, Maxwell of Palmyra and Erwin ad Emory of Norwich, two daughters, Mrs. Walter Cosens of Norwich and Mrs. Roscoe Kelsey of this city, also three grandchildren, Fay and Ray Cosens of Norwich and Maxwell, Jr., of Palmyra, also a brother, Eugene Salisbury of Unadilla.

Jennie L. Sage

Died May 8, 1927, Honeoye Falls, NY

After a long illness, Jennie L. Sage entered into rest Sunday evening, May 8, 1927, about 6 o'clock, at her home in Honeoye Falls [Monroe Co., NY].  On January 9 she received a bad fall when descending the steps of a store in the above place and her hip was fractured. After weeks of intense pain and suffering she improved somewhat and was able to sit up for short periods.  Then came a series of cerebral hemorrhages and death ultimately followed.  Everything that loving thought could suggest or hands do, was done for her relief and comfort by her niece with whom she lived and her sister, Mrs. O.T. Angell, but without avail. The deceased was a daughter of Nelson Sage and Harriet Greene and was born September 25, 1861, on the old Sage homestead below this village, the farm now owned by Carl Jacobsen.  Her ancestors were among the pioneers in this section in the early days of its settlement. She grew to young womanhood in this community and here spent the larger part of her life.  Mrs. Sage was a teacher of much ability and skill and many years of her younger life was spent in that profession. She was preceptress of the New Berlin High School for a number of years, also taught in the school here. The block on the corner in this village now owned by Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Fanning was the Sage home for many years. Nearly four years ago she moved to Honeoye falls to make her home with her niece, Mrs. Lewis Peck. A large circle of friends and relatives here will sadly miss her frequent visits, her good cheer and sympathetic interest. Hers was a strong personality.  She possessed a keen intellect, a rare courage and hopefulness in the face of many ills, often winning out through sheer grit and patient endurance when others might have given up in despair.  Her cheerfulness was always paramount, and an example long to be remembered by those who knew her. She was a member of the Baptist church in Honeoye Falls, until recently a member in this place, an earnest Christian woman whose love for her Saviour found expression in deeds of kindness to others and in loyal service to the Master. She was a member of the Eastern Star at Sidney and also the Col. Israel Angell Chapter of D.A.R. at New Berlin. Two brothers survive, Jewett P., of Norwich, and Henry N. of this place, and one sister, Mrs. O.T Angell, of Mt. Upton, also two nephews and one niece. The remains were brought to the home of her brother in this place on Tuesday evening, and the funeral held on Wednesday at 10 a.m., from the Baptist church.  In the absence of Rev. M.R. Weaver, Rev. W.A. Ashmore of the First Baptist church in Norwich conducted the service.  Many relatives and friends from out of town were in attendance. The floral tributes were beautiful.  She was laid at rest in the family lot in Riverside cemetery.
