Marriage

Chenango Forks, Broome Co. NY:  A pleasant wedding occurred just out from our village last Wednesday evening. The interested parties were Mr. Alexander from near Amsterdam N.Y. [Montgomery Co. NY] and Miss Deliphene Terwilliger daughter of Solomon Terwilliger of Greene [Chenango Co. NY]. The ceremony was performed at the residence of the bride's aunt, by Rev. F.W. Root of Dryden.

Deaths

DIMMICK:  In Smyrna [Chenango Co. NY] May 31st, Calista J. Dimmick wife of Francis R Dimmick, Esq. aged 62 years and 4 months.

Smyrna, Chenango Co. NY:  Our citizens were pained to learn on Saturday of the death of Mrs. Dimmick, wife of F.E Dimick, who had been sick only three days.  Her funeral took place on Monday forenoon at her late residence. She was a kind mother and an affectionate wife and was beloved by all and had many warm personal friends who regret her sudden death.

YORK:  In this village [Norwich, Chenango Co. NY], on June 1st, Bessie [York] infant daughter of Edwin and Alvira York, aged three months.

SANFORD:  Mrs. Sanford mother of E.N. Sanford, late of Coventry [Chenango Co. NY] but now of Binghamton [Broome Co. NY] died at the residence of Romeo Warren on Friday last.

News Items

The grave of Charles Walsworth is our cemetery a soldier of the war of 1812 was decorated by a grandson Walter Walsworth a soldier of the late war and member of Smith Post G.A.R. [Mount Hope Cemetery, Norwich, Chenango Co. NY]

Among the graves in our cemetery decorated were three containing revolutionary soldiers, viz:  Capt. William Church, Samuel Griffing and Aaron Phillips and two of the 1812 war, William Sherwood and Charles Walsworth in addition to those who fell in the last war. Marriages

KEOUGH - KINNER:  At the M.E. Parsonage in Greene [Chenango Co. NY] May 31st by Rev. H.N. Van Deusen, Mr. John F. Keough and Miss Elizabeth Kinier both of Smithville [Chenango Co. NY].

FOSGATE - BOLT:  At the M.E. Parsonage in Greene [Chenango Co. NY] by Rev. H.N. VanDeusen, Mr. John M. Fosgate of McDonough [Chenango Co. NY] and Miss Mary J. Bolt of Greene.

PARSONS - REYNOLDS:  At the home of the bride's parents, May 22, by Rev. C.H. Taylor, Mr. Charles H. Parsons of Whitney's Point [Broome Co. NY] and Miss Hattie E. Reynolds of Barker [Broome Co. NY]

JEFFREY - WALTON:  In Brooklyn at the residence of the bride's parents on Thursday evening, May 15th, 1879, by Rev. Reuben Jeffrey, D.P. father of the groom, George C. Jeffrey M.D. to Amanda [Walton] daughter of William H. Walton, Esq.

MAYNARD - BUELL:  One of the most brilliant social events of the season occurred at Sherburne [Chenango Co. NY] on the evening of the 3d inst., the occasion being the celebration of the nuptials of the beautiful and accomplished Miss Hattie S. Buell of Sherburne to Robert P. Maynard of San Francisco.  The ceremony was performed at the residence of the mother of the bride and was witnessed by a large concourse of friends of the contracting parties.  The house was beautifully and appropriately decorated with flowers and evergreens, wrought in elegant and beautiful designs. A sumptuous collation was served which was discussed amid universal congratulations and kind wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the newly wedded couple.  Among the guests we noticed, Isaac Newton Esq. of Norwich, in company with his brother, Warren Newton of Norwich, and Albro Newton of Brooklyn and Dr. Newton of San Francisco, uncles of the bride; Mrs. Gridley of Clinton, Miss Emily Mansfield, Miss Hattie Oaks and Mrs. Mary Gray, of New Haven, Ct., Rev. William N. Chambers, brother of the officiating clergyman, Rev. T.L. Randolph and daughter. The bride was the recipient of a large number of elegant and costly presents. The bridal tour will consist of a visit to New Haven, Conn., and New York City, after which the happy couple will depart for the Golden Gate where they are to permanently reside.

Deaths

WISLEY:  In Sand Hill [Otsego Co. NY] May 23d, Henry Wisley father of James Wisley of Bainbridge [Chenango Co. NY] aged 76 years.

SANFORD:  In Coventry [Chenango Co. NY] Mauy 31st Mrs. Electa Sanford aged 69 years.

YATES:  In Brownwood, Texas, May 17th, Mrs. Ella I. Yates formerly of this county [Chenango Co. NY] and granddaughter of Merritt Webb of Smithville [Chenango Co. NY] aged 22 years and 7 months.

WILBUR:  In Sherburne [Chenango Co. NY] May 24th, Cora Belle [Wilbur] daughter of J.B. Wilbur aged 8 years, 7 months and 25 days.

BUTTON:  The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Button was attended at the residence of her son-ion-law, J.A. Dexter, at eleven o'clock, last Wednesday.  Mrs. Button was mother of the late Henry Button of Norwich [Chenango Co. NY], also Mrs. Nelson Holmes of Groton, Mich.  She was eighty-five years old, had been an invalid and a great sufferer for many years.

HOAG:  Holmesville, Chenango Co. NY:  The funeral of Mrs. Polly Hoag who died at Mr. Carmel's near Mt. Upton [Chenango Co. NY] was attended at 2 o'clock on the same day.

ELLIOTT:  Capt. Jim Elliott an aged citizen of Fenton [Broome Co. NY] died Tuesday evening. The funeral was attended Wednesday.
