Sigrid A. Spohn - Music Teacher - 1915

Sigrid A. Spohn to Give Music Lessons
Bainbridge Republican, 1915

Mrs. Sigrid A. Spohn has been chosen by the Siegel-Myers School of Music (owners of the copyrighted Sherwood lessons) to teach these lessons exclusively in this vicinity.  Upon application, this teacher will gladly give you full particulars about lessons and terms.

The lessons are illustrated by life-like photographs of Sherwood, showing the correct positions of the hands, fingers, wrists and arms.  All of the movements necessary for the finest touch and technic are clearly demonstrated.  With these lessons a student is never at a loss as to how a thing is to be done during his practice time at home.  Thus he will make more rapid and satisfactory progress by studying these lessons than by any other system of music teaching.  Each lesson is a distinct step in advance of the preceding one.....

Mrs. Sigrid A. Spohn is a music teacher of exceptional qualifications.  In addition to her natural talents and love of music, her advantages have been many and of the best.  Her deep love for music and her ability to impart her knowledge to others in an interesting and pleasing manner enable her to obtain the most satisfactory results.

Beginning her musical education at an early age, Mrs. Spohn has persistently and intelligently pursued her studies.  She received her musical training from one to Stockholm's best teachers, Fraulein Schultzberg, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm.

As an instructor Mrs. Spohn merits the patronage of those seeking a true musical education, as well as the ability to play in an acceptable manner.  Those who study with her and desire to enter a Conservatory later will have the satisfaction of knowing that they will receive full credit for their work.  There will be no bad habits to unlearn--every position of the arms, hands and fingers will be correct--every essential will be approved   Like many of the best music teachers throughout the country, Mrs. Spohn had thoroughly investigated and adopted the graded, progressive Course of Piano Lessons, prepared by America's foremost pianist, William H Sherwood.

(Collins) Whalin-Vohlien was a well-known coloratura soprano who once performed for Queen Victoria and the royal family.  Sigrid was well educated, spoke multiple languages, and performed and taught music.  She married J. Frederick Spohn in 1903 and had four children:  Allison Xavier, Eric Malcolm, Esther M. and Sigrid Aileen.
