Marriages

In this town [Cherry Valley, Otsego Co. NY] on Thursday last, by the Rev. Mr. Ambler, Mr. Willard Stearns to Miss Lucinda Goonrod all of this town.  We acknowledge the receipt of a bottle of wine, and in return wish the couple prosperity and happiness through life.

Death

In this village [Cherry Valley, Otsego Co. NY] the 6th inst. Mrs. Elizabeth Prescott wife of Mr. Edward Prescott, aged 54 years.

We learn that Mr. Niles a resident of Hamilton, Madison Co. [NY] while unharnessing his horses at Richfield [Otsego Co. NY] on Saturday last, received a kick from one of them which caused his death on Monday following.  He was then on his way home from Albany.  Mr. Niles is said to have been a very respectable worthy citizen and has left a number of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

On Saturday night the 31st ult. between 5 and 7 o'clock, as Adam Scot, Sen was returning from the mill, his horses became unmanageable and ran the sleigh over the side of the bridge, by which he was precipitated into the river and was soon by the rapid current carried under the ice.  There was an immediate turn out of a sympathizing neighborhood, who with the aid of lanterns and axes succeeded in finding his mortal remains in less than three hours.  He was a kind and obliging neighbor and held in general esteem.  Delaware Gaz.

In this village [Cherry Valley, Otsego Co. NY] last evening, by the Rev. Mr. Ambler, Mr. Frederick McCollum to Miss Ordelia [Merritt] daughter of Mr. Joseph Merritt, all of this village.  Just as our paper was going to press, in popped a little lad with a basket of choice cake and a bottle of the juice of the grape.  This couple will please accept our thanks for the generous portion of cake and wine and our best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity.  We would say to all young men "go thou and do likewise."

At Newark, Wayne Co. [NY] on the 10th inst. Mr. Cyrus T. Gould to Miss Eveline Wolphrum both of that place.

In Carlisle, Schoharie Co. NY on the 5th inst. by the Rev. Benjamin Bassler, Mr. John J. Brown to Miss Katharine [Osterhout] daughter of Mr. Abraham Osterhout, all of that place.

Death

At Oaksville [Otsego Co. NY] on the 19th inst. at the residence of his brother-in-law, Alanson Pierson, William Fitch late of Auburn, Cayuga Co. [NY] aged 27 years.

In Springfield [Otsego Co. NY] last night, Captain Ishi Parmelee, aged 64 years.

In this village [Cooperstown, Otsego Co. NY] on the 8th instant, Mary M. [Peck] wife of Charles R. Peck, aged 24 years.

At Cayahoga Falls (Ohio) on the 17th ult of consumption, Miss Mary E. Holt aged 35 years, formerly of this village [Cooperstown, Otsego Co. NY].
