Marriage
At Henrietta, N.Y. [Monroe Co.], Capt. Samuel Currier to Miss Mary Archer This is the seventh wife of Capt. Currier, his sixth was buried but three weeks before he espoused the seventh.
"Whose findeth a wife findeth a good thing."
N.B, - since the above was in type, we learn that Mrs. C. has with or without provocation left the bed and board of Capt. Currier, leaving him a disconsolate widower. Georgetown Metropolitan
What lucky dogs some men are in the matrimonial way. Captain Currier seems to have been pre-eminently blessed and while many poor fellows are enabled to have one, or at all events more than one partner during their lives, this redoubtable Capt. C. has been enabled to possess himself of six, who all died in regular rotation, while the seventh it appears "Made a bolt right through his legs, / And ran away forever."
Elopement
Whereas my wife Charlotte [Harington] has eloped from my bed and board without any just cause or provocation, this is to forbid all persons harboring or trusting her on my account, as I will pay no debts of her contracting after this date. David Harington Oxford [Chenango Co. NY] April 23d, 1821.
