Marriages

PRICE - PECK:  At the residence of the bride, February 3d, by the Rev. E.O. Smith, Mr. W.R. Price of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. [Westchester Co.] and Miss May L. Peck of Brewster, N.Y. [Putnam Co.].

BROWN - WHITTING: In Guilford Center [Chenango Co. NY] Feb. 4th, Mr. Andrew Brown of Middletown, N.Y. [Delaware Co.] and Miss Camilla Whiting of Guilford Center, N.Y.

Guilford, Chenango Co. NY: The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. K.E. Bunnell gave them a genuine surprise on Wednesday evening of last week, at the residence of J. Hall, Jr., it being the tenth anniversary of their marriage.  The presents were numerous and appropriate.  The presence of Mead with his violin added much to the enjoyment of the occasion and a very enjoyable time was had.

Deaths

Dr. D.J.H. Chubbuck druggist of Binghamton [Broome Co. NY] died Monday morning last, aged 57 years.

Horace Parker, an old and esteemed farmer of Coventry [Chenango Co. NY] died Monday last of heart disease, aged about seventy years.

Charles H. Wheeler formerly of Norwich [Chenango Co. NY] was recently frozen to death on the plains of Kansas of which State he was a resident.

Ira B. McFarland, an old and well-known resident of Oxford [Chenango Co. NY] died in that village Wednesday of last week at the advanced age of ninety-one years.

News Item

Elihu Gifford moved from Rensselaerville to the farm now occupie4d by Joseph Tabor near West Oneonta [Otsego Co. NY] seventy-seven years ago and four years after moved to the farm now occupied by Henry Gifford on the Oneonta Creek Road and died on that place July 6, 1839, at the age of 97 years.  Of Mr. Gifford's nine children, all are living except two and have already reached an advanced age in life.  Those now living are Henry Gifford, aged 84, John Gifford, aged 80, Daniel Gifford, aged 76, all residents of Oneonta, Aaron Gifford of Bainbridge [Chenango Co. NY], aged 78, Elihu Gifford of Milford [Otsego Co. NY] aged 74, and Mrs. John Whitbeck of Davenport [Delaware Co. NY] aged about 70.  This is quite a record for so large a family.  Oneonta Press

Deaths

Mrs. Polly Gilbert, stepmother of Mrs. R.S. Frear, died at the residence of Mr. Frear, where she had been living for the past fifteen months, about 2 o'clock Tuesday morning aged 67 years.  Most of her life was spent at Carr's Creek [Delaware Co. NY].  Burial at Poplar Hill.

Unadilla Times, August 13, 1891:  Mrs. Gilbert, aged seventy-six years, who has made it her home at Rufus Frear's for more than a year past, died August 4th.  she was buried in the Crane Hill cemetery.  Rev. B.P. Ripley was the officiating clergyman and F.J. Joyce the undertaker employed.

Marriage

Married at the M.E. parsonage in this village [Unadilla, Otsego Co. NY] Saturday evening August 8th, by Rev. Benjamin P. Ripley, Mr. Arthur L. Webster and Miss Florence M. Walworth both of Walton [Delaware Co. NY].

Death

Died in the town of Masonville [Delaware Co. NY] Aug. 5th, 1891, Mrs. Sarah Avery Young in her 37th year.  She was sick only a few hours and three small children, the oldest four years of age are thus deprived of a mother's care.
