At that time this town was almost a howling wilderness.  Instead of roads, people traveled by marked trees as their guides.  She has lived to see the forests cleared away and splendid farmhouses and villages erected in their stead; to see the population of the United States increase from 5,000,000 to nearly 40,000,000 of people.  Her first husband, Mr. Clinton, has been dead 47 years.  Soon after his death, she married Daniel Bishop, who died between 30 and 40 years ago, since which time she has been a widow. At the time of her death, she was the oldest woman in the town of Butternuts.  She has left five children, four sons and one daughter.  Her eldest son, Eli, is 70 years of age and her youngest son, Isaac, 52.  She was member of the Episcopal church for fifty years and esteemed as a Christian by all who knew her.  She was a favorite with all her neighbors for her acts of kindness and has done much to alleviate the sick and afflicted and palliate their sufferings.  Her funeral was attended at the Episcopal church on Saturday, Dec. 2nd, sermon by the rector of Zion Church, Morris.
