By invitation, a large number of Mr. Case's old friends assembled at his residence for an afternoon's entertainment. The occasion was one of great pleasure to all present. Mr. Case and his excellent companion are held in high esteem by the citizens of Vernon. He is still hale and vigorous, has been long and permanently identified with the history of the town, and ever active and enterprising in whatever concerned its interests. A gentleman of unblemished integrity, varied information and kindliest feeling. The cordial respect and esteem of his numerous friends and acquaintances cluster around his green old age and enrich it with more valuable spoils than those which mere station and wealth and able to confer. Long may this noble family be spared to the community to which they are such honored members. [Salmon & Maria (Pierson) Case, married 1817]
