Marriages (June 22)

The engagement of Miss Geraldine Wozmin, of 2010 South Salina street, Syracuse, N.Y. to Stan Sergeant Otis Cottet, of Turner Field, Ala., has been announced.  No date has been set for the wedding.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 7, 1943]

Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Petley celebrated their 40th wedding Anniversary on Wednesday evening, December 30, 1942.  At the time of their marriage, Mrs. Petley was the teacher in third and fourth grades in the local high school and Mr. Petley was employed in the George Ives' Food Store.  They were married at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Ireland on Bush Hill, Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], in the presence of 75 guests.  For a few years Mr. Petley worked in milk factories at Bainbridge, then they bought the old family homestead on Bush Hill where their four children were born.  This 100 acre farm was cleared of the virgin forest by Mrs. Petley's grandfather, Samuel Hull Bush.  They now have a small farm near Bainbridge, but spend the winter months in town with their daughters.  The three daughters were among the guests present at the recent anniversary celebration and served delicious refreshments, which included a tiered cake, beautifully decorated.  The son, Leslie, and his family are in Elkhart, Indiana, where he is employed in government work.  A purse of money was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Petley, with the best wishes of the guests.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 7, 1943]

Colyer-Cranquist:  At 6 o'clock Christmas evening, Dec. 25, occurred the marriage of Mrs. Ethel M. Granquist and Leslie M. Colyer, of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY].  The ceremony took place at the home of the bride, the Rev. J.W. Bump officiating.  The bride was attended by her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Beckwith, of Sherburne, and Carl Muhlfeld, of Georgetown, acted as best man.  The bride is employed in the Scintilla Corp., and the groom operates a farm at Guilford Center.  The best wishes of their many friends are extended to them.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 7, 1943]

Winsor-Bryant:  Relatives in Guilford and Norwich [Chenango Co., NY] received announcements of the marriage of Lieutenant Richard R. Winsor of Camp Roberts, Cal., to Elizabeth Bryant, daughter of Lieutenant Col. and Mrs. Leslie George Bryant, of Los Angeles, Cal. The ceremony took place on Saturday, Jan. 2, 1943.  Lieutenant Winsor, is the son of Glen Winsor of Ilion.  He is a Guilford boy.  Following his mother's death, when only 9 months old, he came to make his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Anthony.  After graduating form the Guilford Central School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J., in the Signal Corps. The last of his 1st hitch he served at Fort Shafter, Honolulu, T.H.  Returning to the states for his first furlough, he was visiting his grandmother, Mrs. C. Adella Anthony, at the time of Pearl Harbor.  He immediately returned to the West coast, expecting to return to Hawaii.  After being there some time, he was sent to the Officers Candidate School, at Monmouth, N.J., from which he graduated with full honors.  Word of his approaching marriage was received by relatives in December. Congratulations and best wishes are extended to them.  It is hoped in the near future Lieutenant Winsor and Mrs. Winsor, will be able to come East, thus enabling friends and relatives to become acquainted with the bride.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 21, 1943]
