Kenneth A. Sherman, 49, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] R.D.2, died Sunday afternoon near his home as a result of a tractor accident.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leona Preston Sherman, of Bainbridge R.D.2; eight daughters, Mrs. Iona Keefe, Mrs. Katherine Miller, the Misses Velna, Mary Louise, Sharon and Patricia Sherman, Mrs. Delores Winands and Mrs. Gloria Smith; nine grandchildren; his father, Ralph Sherman, of Bainbridge; six brothers; five sisters; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.  The funeral and committal services were held at the Harold Sherman Funeral Home, 58 West Main Street, Bainbridge, Wednesday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Theodore C. Meyer, of the Bainbridge Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge, at a later date.  [MHD notation:  Nov. 1, 1959]
 
The funeral of Mrs. Lydia Olendorf Sherman, widow of Schuyler Sherman was held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, from her old home in East Afton [Chenango Co., NY], where her son, William Sherman and family now live, Rev. Lynn Crawford of Glen Castle, a former pastor, officiating.  Mrs. Sherman was 73 years old having been born in West Bainbridge on May 27, 1859.  She was a daughter of John and Abiah (Newton) Olendorf.  April 27, 1992, she was married to Schuyler Sherman and their married life was spent in Bennettsville and East Afton.  To them were born five children one of them dying in infancy.  The four survivors are, Ralph and William of East Afton; Manville of Hancock and Mrs. B.H. Ward of Union Valley, with whom Mrs. Sherman was living.  Mr. Sherman died nine years ago.  She passed away at the home of her son, Ralph Sherman, where she was visiting, at 8 o'clock Thursday evening, Oct. 20, after an illness of only a few days.  Her funeral service, which was very largely attended, was under the direction of Colwell Brothers of Bainbridge and the bearers were her grandsons, Kenneth, Earl, Lawrence and Morris Sherman.  Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY].  Besides her children, Mrs. Sherman is survived by 21 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. William Teachout and Miss Hattie Olendorf, of Bainbridge.  She was a member of the Baptist church, having united with the church at Bennettsville 50 years ago.  She was a faithful mother, devoted to her children and always thoughtful of others and ready to aid in sickness or wherever this might be needed.  Friends from Binghamton, Harpursville and Afton were present at the funeral. Mrs. Myrtie Beatrice Sherman, 64, died Tuesday morning at her home in East Afton [Chenango Co., NY].  She is survived by her husband, Ralph; seven sons, Kenneth, Earl, Lawrence, Clifford and Clarence, all of Bainbridge; Alvin and Wesley, both of Afton; (another son, Maurice of Afton, died last Summer); five daughters, Mrs. Herbert Sutton of Staatsburg, NY, Mrs. Clarence Gifford and Miss Frances Sherman, both of Afton, Mrs. Ralph Ireland and Miss Mildred Sherman, both of Bainbridge; her mother, Mrs. Jennie Merritt of Afton; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Jones of Utica and Mrs. Lynn Crawford of Bradford; four brothers, Elmer Merritt of Ouaquaga, Chester Merritt of Binghamton, Raymond and Lewis Merritt, both of Afton; 34 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  The funeral was held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bainbridge.  The Rev. Orin Fay, of Albany, assisted by the Rev. Ruthven Chalmers, of Bainbridge, officiated.  Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY].  The pall-bearers were:  Morell Colwell, F.A. Demeree, Thomas Lewis, W.R. Davidson Riley Auringer, all of Bainbridge, and Dan Gifford of Sidney.  Funeral arrangements by the Fisher Funeral Home, Bainbridge.  {MHD notation:  Jan. 20, 1953]
 
Dorothy Brandt Shubert, age 31, wife of Paul Shubert, of Franklin [Delaware Co., NY], and formerly of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], passed away at the Homer Folks Hospital, Oneonta, Monday, October 21, after being in poor health for two years.  Mrs. Shubert spent her girlhood in Bainbridge and attended Bainbridge High School.  She attended the Methodist Church in Franklin.  Born September 17, 1909, in Trige, Denmark, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kristian Brandt.  In June 1938, she was united in marriage to Paul Shubert, of Franklin.  She is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kristian Brandt, of Bainbridge; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Streigler, of Bainbridge, and Mrs. Harold Rosa, of Syracuse; two brothers Harold Brandt, of Bainbridge, and Alfred Brandt, of Sidney; and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the funeral chapel in Franklin with the Rev. Sargeant officiating.  Interment was in the Franklin Cemetery.  [MHD notation:  d. 1940]
 
Mrs. Betty Grow Silvernell, 37, of Unadilla [Otsego Co., NY], died Tuesday at The Hospital, Sidney.  She is survived by her husband, Clarence Silvernell; two daughters, Robin and Holly Silvernell; a son, James Silvernell, all of Unadilla; her mother, Mrs. Leone Grow of Bainbridge; her father Clinton Grow of Ithaca; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth VerValin of Unadilla; three brothers, Renford Grow of Ithaca, Dudley Grow of Baltimore, Md., and Billy Grow of Long View, Tex., and three aunts.  Mrs. Silvernell was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Unadilla.  [MHD notation:  Sept. 1, 1959]
 
Mrs. Myra R. Silvey, 70, wife of Rexford Silvey, of 20 Newton Avenue, Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], died Thursday morning, May 10, 1956, at her home.  Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna Stimpson, Mrs. Harold Miller, both of Oneonta, and Mrs. Lynn Lanfair, of Mount Upton; three sons, Charles R. of Bainbridge, Edwin M. of Mount Upton, and Frank A. Silvey, of Newington, Conn.; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Madden, of Brisben, and Mrs. Nellie Silvey, of Binghamton; four brothers Howard Lum, of Brisben, Homer Lum, of Smithville Flats, Elmer Lum, of South Edmeston, and Stanley Lum, of New Berlin, and several nieces and nephews.  The body was removed to the Harold Sherman Funeral Home, 58 W. Main Street, Bainbridge, where funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Ruthven Chalmers officiating.  Burial was in Butternut Valley Cemetery, Copes Corners [Otsego Co., NY].  [published May 17, 1956]
