Noticeable among the social events of the past week was the quiet and pretty wedding of Miss Emma B. Wheeler to Mr. Byron Lee Bixby, of Sharon Centre, Potter county, Pa., on Wednesday evening, Jan. 29th, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garret Wheeler, of Albany street. Upwards of seventy guests were comfortably seated through the parlors when, promptly at 7:30 o'clock, the bride and groom, preceded by Miss Luella Hovey, bridesmaid, and Mr. Pratt, a half-brother of the groom as best man, slowly marched to the beautiful strains of the wedding march through to the back parlor and took their places under a very pretty evergreen arch appropriately lettered "B&W.--1896" where the ceremony was quickly performed by Rev. C.B. Parsons. The bride wore a gown of light blue silk trimmed with white lace, and carried a bouquet of white roses, while the groom wore the usual costume of black. After congratulations were over, the company repaired to the dining room, where the tables were in waiting with their load of luxuries. The evening quickly sped, and not until a late hour did the company depart, leaving with Mr. and Mrs. Bixby many valuable and beautiful presents as tokens of their esteem. Mr. and Mrs. Bixby will make their home in Oxford [Chenango Co., NY] for the present.
