BUNNELL:  In Guilford, June 2, 1892, William Harrison Bunnell, son of K. Eugene and Mary E. Bunnell, of Brooklyn, aged 6 years and 7 months.  Mr. K.E. Died, at his late residence in Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], April 18, 1894, after an illness of two weeks, Chester A. Yale.  Mr. Yale was of Welsh descent, his ancestors coming from Wales, Great Britain, and settling in New England in the seventeenth century.  Uriah Yale, grandfather to the deceased, moved with his family from Wallingford, Connecticut, to Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], in the winter, of 1799; he purchased a mile square of land at ten shillings per acre and settled thereon, being the second family--a Mr. Weeks preceding him--to penetrate the forests of that town and encounter the wolves and bears which were frequent at this early period.  Benjamin, a brother of Uriah Yale, came two years later into the vicinity, and the two families, though considered in easy circumstances for those times, endured many privations--a scarcity of food one season, subjecting them to rations of rye flour and milk for a number of weeks.  They gave the name of Yale Settlement to the locality.  Mr. Yale, the subject of this sketch, was born in Guilford, May 12, 1812, and was a resident of Guilford until 1872, when he came to Bainbridge.  He was one of eleven children of whom three survive;  these are Rev. Luman Yale, of Guilford' Mrs. Thomas Yale, of Utica, and Mrs. Marens Cooper, of Bainbridge.  Mr. Yale entered the Baptist church at sixteen years of age, and was a communicant and supporter of that denomination for sixty years.  Upon his removal to Bainbridge, he transferred his membership to the Baptist church here, and through his zeal, energy and official capacity, added strength and prosperity to the church.  His declining years were soothed and made pleasant, by the loyal and untiring devotion of his only daughter.  Death has now garnered, in Chester A. Yale, an esteemed citizen, a Christian gentleman, a faithful and true man in all the relations of family life.  Mr. Yale was married in 1833, to Eliza Ratner, who died January 30, 1875.  Of this union there are three children--Asa J. Yale, of Albany; Melvin A. Yale, and Hannah A. Yale, of Bainbridge.  Funeral services were held at the home, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. T.F. Hall.  Interment in the village cemetery by St. Peter's church [Bainbridge, NY].
