Mr. and Mrs. Albert Campbell
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Campbell observed their 60th wedding anniversary on May 4 by entertaining at a family dinner in their home on South Main street [Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY]. the honored couple was married in West Virginia by Mrs. Campbell's uncle, the Rev. Silas Auvil. Dinner was served at noon to members of the immediate family. The table was centered with a large bride's cake beautifully decorated with roses, with bouquets of daffodils completing the table arrangement. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were recipients of a purse of money, many cards and candy. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gregory and son, Roy, of Norwich; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Campbell, of Oxford; Mrs. Clifton Steward and daughter, and Mrs. Francis Manwarren and son, of Norwich; Mr. and Mrs. Dow Campbell and daughter, Mrs. Donald Quinney, of Bainbridge; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Fisher and daughter, Shirley, and son, Bryce, of Afton; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ireland and sons, Ralph and Elton and daughter, Phyllis, of Bainbridge; Mr. and Mrs. Merton Hovey and daughter, Pearl, and son, Merton, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Campbell and daughter, Sharon, of Afton. Those unable to attend were Donald Campbell, of Afton; Sgt. Raymond Gregory, who is in the South Pacific; Donald Quinney, of Bainbridge, and Francis Manwarren, of Norwich, who are both in the service; and Clifton Stewart, of Norwich. Miss Lydia Schultz, nurse in the Binghamton City Hospital, became the bride of Corporal Arthur Bouren Monday afternoon, May 8, at 3 o'clock in the Methodist church at North Sanford. The church was decorated with evergreens, snapdragons and Iris, Mrs. R. Baker, of Harpursville, sang "I Love You Truly," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Regina Mapes, who also played the wedding march. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. William F. Miller, a former pastor. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Thomas Schultz, wore white satin with sweetheart tiara and finger-tip veil, and carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Milton Menhennett, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and wore an aqua organdy dress with hat and veil to match and carried a bouquet of red roses. A friend of the groom was best man. Misses Margaret and Mary Rothganger, twin sisters of the bride, acted as ushers. They wore yellow organdy dresses with hats and veils to match and corsage of blue iris. Decker - Campbell: Cpl. Howard Decker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Decker, former residents of Preston Park, and Bonnie Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Campbell, of Covington, Va., were united in marriage Saturday, May 6, at the Falling Spring Valley Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Miss Grace Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], became the bride of Pfc. Robert Hawkins, Army Engineers Corps, Fort Dix, N.J., son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harder, 101 Center street, Oneonta [Otsego Co., NY], at 8 o'clock Monday evening, May 8. The ceremony was performed by Dr. Charles S. Pendleton at his home. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Logan, of Oneonta. the bride was attractive in a light blue tweed suit, and her bouquet was red roses. Her matron of honor wore a brown suit and a corsage of yellow roses. A reception was held at the Harder residence, which was decorated with green and white carnations and snapdragons. On their wedding trip the couple went to Fort Dix, where the bride spent a short time before returning to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Harder. Mrs. Hawkins graduated form Bainbridge High School and is employed at Karmelkorn. Pvt. Hawkins attended Oneonta High School and worked at the D.&H. roundhouse before entering the Army Nov. 28, 1942. Miss Marilyn Mary Miller, of New York City, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Miller, of Boston, was married to Frederick Ernest Epply, B.M. 2/C, U.S. Navy, son of Wiliam J. Epply and the late Mrs. Epply, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], May 18, at the Little Church Around the Corner, New York City. The bridal couple is spending a few days here at the Epply home.
