Vital Records, Chenango (1821 & 1878) & Broome (1848) Counties, NY

Oxford Gazette, Oxford, NY, January 3, 1821

Death

Died, in this village [Oxford, Chenango Co. NY] on Tuesday morning last, Mrs. Ursula Perkins, wife of Mr. Erastus Perkins and relict of the late Hon. John Allen of Litchfield Con. AEt 42 years.

In the various relations of wife, mother, friend and Christian, the virtues of the deceased were truly conspicuous, and her affable manners and benevolent disposition had not only endeared her to those who were connected with her by the ties of consanguinity but has rendered her loss truly afflictive to all her friends and acquaintances.  But she has gone.  The knell has announced her exit. The ethereal spirit has ascended to its benignant Father.  She has exchanged a world of cares and sorrows for a heaven of bliss and to those who are unwilling to submit to the mysterious ways of providence, Deity says "Peace - be Still."

The funeral of the deceased will be attended this day, and the procession will move to the Church at precisely half past one o'clock.
