Smith - Bissell: On the beautiful evening of January 7th, the most fashionable wedding for some years held in Oneonta [Otsego Co. NY] occurred at the residence of William Bissell on Main Street, this occasion being the marriage of Miss Lottie Bissel and Charles Smith. During the day and at an early hour in the evening, acceptances, regrets and presents were often sent in, and the bride's home was the scene of considerable commotion. Among many other elegant presents, Mr. Smith gave his son and daughter $100 in gold. which was deposited in the Wilber National Bank to the credit of the bride. The house was brilliantly illuminated and presented a pleasant appearance. At 8:30 o'clock the marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Y.C. Smith, D.D. of the M.E. church. The groom was dressed in a stylish dress suit of black and the bride was attired in a lovely silk of delicate -?-. There was a profusion of orange blossoms tastefully arranged in her hair. A delicious line of refreshments were served, the bridal cake coming from Mayer's. The evening was spent in a decidedly social manner. There was no more reserve than courtesy and due dignity demanded and Mr. and Mrs. Bissell were unceasing in their attentions. The happy couple received many hearty congratulations and a general expression of good and kindly wishes attended them. For the present, we believe Mr. and Mr. Smith will board at Mr. Bissell's.
