Railroad Accident: Last Tuesday morning as a number of laborers engaged on the A.&S.R.R. were crossing a bridge near Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], on a hand car, while a dense fog prevailed, they were met by a train going West, and Florence McCarthy and James Mulligan, were instantly killed, and Foreman Hamlin, together with others, severely injured. At the residence of the bride's father, in this town [Greene, Chenango Co., NY], on the 24th inst., by Rev. J.H. Sage, Mr. Whitman J. Webb, of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY] to Miss Agusta C. [Lansing], daughter of James Lansing.
In Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], on the 11th inst., by Rev. L.E. Spafford, Mr. Thos. Peck, of Toronto, Canada, to Miss Ellen Rhodes, of Oxford.
Deaths
In Smithville Flats [Chenango Co., NY], on the 23d inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Harrison, widow of the late James Harrison, and mother of Mrs. H .G. Crozier and Miss Mary Harrison of Smithville, and Mrs. Theron Grant, of this village, aged 102 years.
Thus has this aged lady passed to her final home, with an unclouded intellect until within a few weeks of her death. She has been able to survey a whole century of the world's progress. Born in Monagham county, in the north of Ireland before the birth of Napolean 1st, the Duke of Wellington, and Tallerand, she has been cognizant of the great events on the earth's surface, since her early childhood. She possessed in a very striking manner those exalted traits that belong to the devoted Christian, and to the last hours of her long life gave to all the manifestation of her cheerful devotion to her Christian profession. Her devotion to the precepts of her savior, and her liberal contributions to the service of His cause, are worthy of the highest commendation of all who survive her. The funeral will take place at the residence of H.G. Crozier, Esq., on Friday, at 12 o'clock.
