Marriages (November 2)

Taylor - Stillson
A quiet marriage was solemnized at the Baptist parsonage Monday evening the 3d inst.  The contracting parties were Lewis C Taylor and Mrs. Mary E. Stilson both of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY].  The bride and groom are both members of the Baptist church, and are well-known and universally respected by a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who will wish them many years of unalloyed happiness.  They will be at home to their friends at the pleasant residence of Mr. Taylor on West Main street. Hickey - Marvin
P.J. Hickey of Greenfield, Mass., and Miss Violet D. Marvin of Deposit, N.Y. [Broome Co., NY], both residing in Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], were married recently.  Mr. and Mrs. Hickey are keeping house in the Hiram Payne house, Kirby street.  [1902]
 
Hayes - Finch
The marriage of Mr. Alvin D. Hayes and Miss Frances M. Finch, both of this village, occurred at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Finch at twelve o'clock noon yesterday, Oct. 11.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. C.H. Sackett pastor of the M.E. Church, in the presence of fifty or more invited relatives and friends.  [1900]
 
On Wednesday, June 27 [1900], occurred to Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Marsh the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. The Social Whist club, of which Mrs. Marsh is president could not let this pass unnoticed, so they arranged to meet with Mrs. Andrews at 8 o'clock, and together with a few of their friends called collectively to congratulate them individually.  As a lasting tribute of their regard they brought as a gift a handsome reclining chair.  there were also other gifts from friends--Telegraph
 
Goodspeed - Morrison
Miss Violet Bette Morrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Morrison, of East Windsor [Broome Co. NY], became the bride of Corporal George L. Goodspeed, at 8 o'clock Saturday night, Jan. 15th, in the East Windsor Methodist Church.  The Rev. Howard Willetts, of McDonough, former pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony. Corporal Goodspeed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Goodspeed, of Oneonta, is stationed with a coast artillery unit of the Army at Kure Beach, N.C.  [Bainbridge Republican,  Jan. 20,  1944]
 
Barrett - Place
Miss Betty Place, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Place, of Margaretville [Delaware Co., NY], and S/Sgt. Ransom Barrett, of Andes, were married at the home of the bride's parents Wednesday evening, Jan. 12.  Mrs. Barrett is a graduate of the Margaretville Central School and of the Mildred Elly Business School, Albany, and has been employed as secretary at the Margaretville Hospital.  Sgt. Barrett is a graduate of the Andes Central School and has been serving in the Army Air Force nearly three years.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 20, 1944]
 
Van Cott - Winter
Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Winter, of Franklin, N.J., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ruth Ann Winter, to Pvt. John Franklin Van Cott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon J. Van Cott, of Unadilla [Otsego Co., NY].  Miss Winters graduated from Franklin High School and attended Skidmore College.  Pvt. John Van Cott, who attended University of Pennsylvania, is now stationed at the University of Illinois.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 20, 1944]
