In this village [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], on Friday morning last, Miss Delia Guthrie, aged 18 years. An appropriate sermon was preached on the occasion of her funeral, b the Rev. J.S. Swan from Ecel, chap xi, 1st verse. Her remains followed by a large concourse of people, were carried to North Norwich and there interred in the Baptist burying ground. The blow inflicted by this sad event upon her surviving relatives and friends, is one which will long be felt. The mildness of her manners, the winning sweetness of her deportment and the benevolence of her heart, had justly endeared her to all. And truly was it remarked, over her grave, that her discrimination in selecting her friends, her studious regard for morals, her exemplary walk through life, her love of the house of God, and her sympathy for the sufferings of the unfortunate, rendered her virtues worthy of being recorded, and her life a pattern for imitation.
