The war department has officially declared dead Lieutenant Leonard I. Tompkins, of Shinhopple, Delaware County, navigator of a B-24 Liberator bomber reported missing on Aug. 14, 1944 on a mission from Saipan to Iwo Jima. The bomber was returning from Iwo when it encountered enemy aircraft. Four parachutes were seen to have opened, the Army report, before the plane burst into flames and crashed into the sea.

David B. Blakeley, S 1/C was discharged from the Navy at Lido Beach Apr. 18 after two years and eight months of service with the Armed Guard in the Pacific Theatre, and has arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce D. Blakeley. He participated in the invasion of Morortai, Leyte, and Mindanao. David holds the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation and Victory Medal.
Lyall Fletcher Discharged from Navy

Lyall B. Fletcher, Sp. (A) 2/C, of Newport, R.I., was discharged at Lido Beach Apr. 5 after 37 months of service, and has arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Fletcher.
Mr. & Mrs. Louis Fairbanks Present Plaque to St. Peter's
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fairbanks will present to St. Peter's Church at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, Apr. 28, a Bronze Plaque bearing the names of all the men and women, members of St. Peter's Church in the service of their country during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Fairbanks are giving this Honor Roll in honor of all these and in memory of their son Paul who was killed in action in Germany. The flowers on the alter Sunday will be given in loving memory of Paul Fairbanks by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fairbanks, the anniversary of Paul's birthday being Monday, Apr. 29. A Bronze Plaque bearing the Honor Roll of members of St. Peter's Church who served in World War II was dedicated in St. Peter's Church last Sunday, Apr. 28, at 11 a.m. The 36 names appearing on this Honor Roll are:

Of these, three were killed action: Paul Fairbanks, Harry Jaynes and Edson Smith.
The Honor Roll was given by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fairbanks in honor of all those, members of St. Peter's Church, serving during World War II and in loving memory of their son, Paul Fairbanks. The Plaque is placed on the wall of St. Peter's in the rear of the Nave. With it is a very beautiful United States Flag, given by Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Noyes, in honor of these men and women of this Honor Roll. This Flag is carried in processionals at the church services.
