Masonville [Delaware Co., NY]: Since our last death entered our midst Mary 29, and took from among us, little Clarence, the youngest child of Darius and Emily Butts, aged 1 year 7 months and 3 days. The funeral took place on Friday in the school house. The sermon was preached by Rev. Mr........ Ripley, of Masonville. The funeral was quite largely attended and they have the entire sympathy of the neighborhood in their bereavement.

Died, in Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], on the 4th inst., at the residence of her son-in-law, Glover Ives, Mrs. Lovisa Winsor, aged 92 years. The deceased came to this town when but seventeen years of age, and was the oldest woman in the town. She was married early in life to Milton Norton, and some time after his death married Paris Winsor, of White Store. She lived an honored and useful life.
Howard Willis

Dr. Lester Woolsey, of Hancock, Delaware County coroner, issued a verdict of accidental death in the case of Howard Willis, 42, of Brewster [Putnam Co., NY], who died a few days ago in the Binghamton City Hospital as a result of injuries received in a highway mishap. Deposit State Police said Mr. Willis was a passenger in an automobile involved in collision with a tractor-trailer Sunday night on Route 17, near East Branch. Police identified the operator of the car as William Kilcoyne, 34, of Brewster, who is in fair condition at the City Hospital. Mr. Willis suffered a fractured skull.
Mrs. May Woodmansee, of Lake Como, Pa., died Thursday morning Jan. 20, after a short illness aged 79 years. Mrs. Woodmansee was a daughter of the late Sylvanus G. Perham and Lucinda Schoonover Perham, one of a family of 12 children. Her early days were spent at Mt. Pleasant. In March, 1888, she married Samuel B Woodmansee and the first few years of their married life were spent at Williamsport, Pa. Then they returned to Lake Como, where she has since lived. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Warren W. and Ethel L. Her survivors are a brother, John Perham, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Eda Ellen Hessinger Cook, wife of Cecil Cook, died from a heart attack on Sunday, Jan. 23, at her home in Cadosia [Delaware Co., NY] at the age of 57 years. She had been ill only two days. Mrs. Cook, born at Shandelee, was a daughter of George and Sarah Hessigner. She was married to Cecil Cook on June 21, 1904. The Cooks have resided at Cadosia since 1925. Prior to that they lived at Elk Brook. Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, two sons, two sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Emma Jane Terry died Wednesday at the Bainbridge Hospital, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Jay G. Terry, of Vallonia Springs [Broome Co., NY]; two sons, Lee and Clarence Terry, both of Nineveh; three daughters, Miss Marie Terry, of Vallonia Springs, Mrs. Robert Bunt, of Afton, and Mrs. Ronald Meade, of Oxford; her mother, Mrs. Oscar Pulis, of Afton; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Morley, of Tunnel, and Mrs. Austin Livingston, of Afton, and five grandchildren.
John Bush, 80, a resident of Kelly Corners [Delaware Co., NY] for the past 20 years, died early Sunday morning at Binghamton State hospital, where he had been a patient for a few days. Death was caused by a heart ailment.
Clarence Gordon, 24, of Afton [Chenango Co., NY], an employee of the American Separator Co., Bainbridge, was instantly killed Sunday evening at 7:30 when his car crashed into the side of a freight at the main crossing in Greene. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Taber Funeral Home, Afton, with the Rev. Kenneth Kingston officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery [Afton, NY]. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Susan Gordon, who is confined to the Afton Hospital with a new born son, and two other small children; father, Eugene Gordon, of Greene, and a sister, Mrs. Leatha Valenti, of Brooklyn. Michael Spring, Lackawanna station agent at Greene, stated the car struck the 10th car of the freight train broadside. Skid marks indicated he applied brakes about 20 feet from the crossing, probably as he turned from a side street onto the main highway. There were three other occupants injured in the car at the time of the accident; two of the injured are in a critical condition in the Binghamton City Hospital. Miss Ethel Barnard, 16, daughter of Floyd Barnard, of Afton, suffered possible fractures of skull, breast bone and both arms, and possible lung punctures; and Daniel Capel, 20, of Afton, son of Mrs. Anna Pavlov, of Deposit, received compound fractures of the skull, nose and multiple lacerations. Mrs. Leta Bryden, 17, wife of Pvt. Adam Eugene Bryden, of Bainbridge, suffered head and mouth lacerations and bruises.
