Death

Died on the 30th day of April last, Mrs. Susanna Hathaway wife of Mr. Isaac Hathaway, of this village [Delhi, Delaware Co. NY], aged 51 years.

In this case, a mortal in the ordinary walks of life, has passed from time into eternity, an event of every day's occurrence.  But we cannot reconcile it to our feelings, merely to announce the event, without publicly joining in the universal expression of sorrow which it has occasioned.  Her loss will long be felt and the space she filled in our little community will not be easily supplied.  Those who on the bed of sickness have experienced the benefits of her assiduity and experience will long remember Mrs. Hathaway, and her benevolent and disinterested exertions in all cases to alleviate the misfortunes of her neighbors, it is to be hoped, will not soon be forgotten.  Of the loss sustained by her partner in life; Of the vacuum created in her family, we say nothing.  We obtrude not upon the hallowed precincts of mourning.
