At Fly Creek [Otsego Co. NY], July 19th, Clark Brown in the 89th year of his age.

The deceased was born in North Scituate, R.I., in the year 1789.  He came to Fly Creek in the Spring of 1810 and resided here until the day of his death.  Fifty-seven years were lived in the house in which he died.  The place was dear to him because of its many sacred associations.  He early joined the lodge of Masons at Cooperstown.  Not one member of that company, who met on that occasion, is left to drop a tear at the burial of their comrade and brother.  His mechanical genius was remarkable and at an early age he sought every opportunity to exercise and cultivate it.  Today as a monument of his genius there stands at Toddsville, the first cotton power loom built in the State of New York.  In religious belief, he was a Universalist.  He connected himself with that faith at its first introduction into this part of the country.  Amid the varied experiences of his life he remained loyal to his faith and died rejoicing in the belief that "all men will finally be saved."

About three weeks ago, the wife of Mr. Henry Colvin of Coventry [Chenango Co NY], rose in the morning, complaining of a pain in her side.  She soon after went asleep or died as supposed.  when her friends came to attend the funeral, they were struck with the remarkable life-like appearance of the corpse and the funeral was deferred.  Since then, she has lain in the same condition, and many have visited Mr. Colvin's house, none of whom can discover any signs of decay. There had been no alteration on Friday 21, a period of about three weeks.
