Marriages (October 20)

Last Thursday evening at 8 o'clock Miss Lillie A. Hawkins of Matteawan [Dutchess Co., NY^] and Fred A. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Smith of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], were united in holy bonds of matrimony.  The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's parents in the presence of a few intimate friends and the bride's family.  Fred Smith is well known here, and has many friends who wish him and his bride a long and happy life.  About three years ago Fred went to Matteawan where he secured employment and is now one of the best "hat" finishers in that town of hats.  Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith came to Bainbridge last Friday to visit with his many relatives in this section and they will remain until after the holidays. 

Verna Anna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney C. Davis, of Callicoon Center [Sullivan Co., NY] and P.F.C. Cornelius Andrew McLaughlin, son of Mrs. Cornelius McLaughlin, of Port Jervis [Orange Co., NY], were united in holy matrimony at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon, by the Rev. Leonard Perotti, O.F.M. on Tuesday, Aug. 3.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Aug. 12, 1943]

Miss Edith Vroman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Vroman, of Toddsville [Otsego Co., NY], and Earle Grigsly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Grigsly, of Hartwick [Otsego Co., NY], were married in the Hartwick Methodist church Saturday evening by the Rev. Wilfred Lyon.  The bride is a graduate of the Cooperstown High School and is employed at the Sidney Scintilla plant.  The groom is a graduate of Hartwick High School and is employed by his father in South Hartwick.  They will reside in Hartwick after Sept. 1.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Aug. 12, 1943]

Davidson - Collier:  Miss Elizabeth I. Collier, of Oneonta [Otsego Co., NY], and Bruce L. Davidson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Davidson, of Treadwell [Delaware Co., NY], were married Oct. 31, at the First Presbyterian Church in Oneonta.  The Rev. Boyd C. McCleary, D.D., the pastor, officiated.  After a short wedding trip they will make their home near Franklin.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Nov. 11, 1943]

Miss Helen Conklin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Conklin, of Cook's Falls [Delaware Co., NY], and Reginald Steele, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Steele, of Horton Brook [Delaware Co.,  NY], were married at Walton, Oct. 28.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
