Smith - Stevens

George A. and Allie M. (Stevens) Smith

Wednesday evening of last week at the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Beckwith, on Walnut street, occurred the marriage of Allie  M. Stevens, of this place [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], and George A. Smith of Sherburne [Chenango Co., NY].  The immediate relatives with a few other friends, were present at the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. Dr. W.D. Benton, rector of Emmanuel Church.  The bride was gowned in white cashmere and carried a bouquet of pink roses.  She was attended by Miss Caroline Smith, a sister of the groom, Lewis A. Smith acting as best man.  Upon their return from a wedding trip to Cooperstown and Lake George, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens will reside in Sherburne, where the groom has a responsible position in the knitting mill.  He has chosen a worthy bride and all join in congratulations.  Mrs. Mary F. Smith, Miss Caroline Smith and Lewis A. Smith, of Sherburne; Mrs. J.C. White and Misses Clara M. White and Alta M. Law, of Pharsalia, were among the guests at the wedding.
 
Mr. and Mrs. K.E. Bunnell

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. K.E. Bunnell gave them a genuine surprise on Wednesday evening of last week, at the residence of J. Hall, Jr., it being the tenth anniversary of their marriage. The presents were numerous and appropriate.  The presence of Mead with his violin added much to the enjoyment of the occasion and a very enjoyable time was had.
 
Peterson - LaBoue
Mr. and Mrs. George A. LaBoue of 11 Waller Court, New London, Conn., have announced the engagement of their daughter Ruth E. to Cadet Vern F. Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn F. Peterson of West Brentwood, L.I., formerly of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY].  Miss LaBoue is a graduate of Williams Memorial Institute of New London, class of 1937.  She is now employed in the office of the New England Collapsible Tube Company, New London, Conn.  Mr. Peterson graduated from Oxford Academy in 1938.  He attended Clarkson College of Technology at Potsdam and the United States Coast Guard Academy at New London, Conn., and is now undergoing training as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corp at Ocala, Florida.
 
Obenauer - Hallock
Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Hallock of Alamo, Texas, and Oxford, N.Y., announce the engagement of their daughter, Ruth Elizabeth to Dr. Frederick H. Obenauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Obenauer of Norwich.  Miss Hallock is a member of the faculty of Van Antwerp School, Schenectady, and Dr. Obenauer is an optometrist in Norwich [Chenango Co., NY].
