Silah A. (Bryan) Gager
1835-1914

Sherburne [Chenango Co., NY]:  Descended from the founder of this town was Mrs. Silah A. Gager, who died recently, as was noted in the Globe last week.  Her maternal grandfather was James Sherburne, who was one of the first settlers of this section.  From him the place took its name.  Mrs. Gager was the last survivor of a family of four children of Chester Bryan and Martha Gilman Bryan.  Her final illness was brief.  For many years she had been afflicted with bronchitis, a trouble she had borne cheerfully.  At last she suffered an acute attack, which proved fatal after she had been confined to her bed but a few hours.  Everything that kind and loving hands could do to alleviate her suffering was done, but death claimed her Monday morning, January 5.  Expecting the Master's call, both daughters of the deceased were at her bedside when death came, still and quiet, and their mother passed out of this life as peacefully as a child going to sleep.  Mrs. Gager was born in Sherburne March 9, 1835, on the farm now occupied by Mrs. Gowen.  In 1863 she was united in marriage with Justin M. Gager, who died in 1878, leaving to her the care of her two daughters, Mrs. Gager retained her residence in Sherburne and for the last few years she and her elder daughter made their home on Chapel street.  By faith she was a Universalist. She was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed.  The funeral was held at her late home Thursday afternoon.  Rev. Dewitt Lamphear, of Bridgewater, a former pastor of the universalist Church of Sherburne, officiated.  Four cousins, Edwin, Fitch, George and Arthur Bryan, were the bearers. The remains were laid to rest in the Episcopal Cemetery beside those of her husband.  Mrs. Gager is survived by two daughters, Helen S. Gager and Mrs. George Bingham; also by two granddaughters, Florence and Blanche Bingham, all of Sherburne.

Ralph Follett
1861 - 1930
Ralph Follett was born in Chenango county, New York, April 17, 1861, and passed away at his home in Palisade, Nebraska, Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock, September 17, 1930, aged 69 years and 5 months.  He was married to Estella May McCormick, January 29, 1888.  To this union were born five children, three of whom survive, Merle L. Follett of Beverly, Nebr., Hazel A. Egle, Stratton, Nebr., and Floyd F. Fallett, Palisade, Nebr; a son, Roscoe, having died at the age of 3 years, also a son Herman, who passed away in 1919.  Mr. Follett moved to Nebraska in 1884 and became one of the successful pioneer farmers of this new country, with his family enduring the hardships and adversities, but ever patient and persevering he lived to reap the rewards of his early endeavors.  His first years of married life were spent on a farm south of Palisade, but they later established a fine home on a farm west of town, 8 years later moving into their present modern and comfortable home, where he was given every possible care and attention from the time he first became ill in April, until death came to relieve his sufferings.  Mr. Follett was a man of unusually kind and genial disposition and nothing gave him greater enjoyment than when he could share the hospitality of their pleasant home with old time friends and neighbors.  Mr. Follett and wife became members of the congregational church in 1895.  He is survived by his wife, Stella, three children, nine grandchildren, a brother William of Palisade and a sister and brother of New York state.
