Betsey Nichols

Mrs. Betsey Nichols departed this life, in Portageville, Wyoming co., N.Y., on the 12th inst., in the 84th year of her age. The subject of this memoir was converted to God in the early part of her life, in the eastern part of this State. Shortly after her conversion, the first Methodist preachers she ever saw came into the place where she resided, and going to hear them preach, she found a people whose feelings were congenial with her own, and she immediately united with the M.E. Lois B. (Patrick) Dayton

Lois B. Dayton, consort of Dr. Dayton, and daughter of Lorry Patrick, Esq., of Columbia Co., N.Y., departed this life in Wellsville N.Y. [Allegany Co.] March 4, 1849, aged 40 years. Sister Dayton experienced religion in early life, and for 25 years lived a consistent Christian, and an acceptable member of the M.E. Church. In her last sickness, she enjoyed the sustaining power and tranquilizing influence of our holy religion. Her end was peace. C. Graham, Jr.
Ellen Minerva Wade

Ellen Minerva Wade, 82, of Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], succumbed at the Chenango Memorial Hospital [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY] at 7:30 Thursday morning. She was taken ill Monday night and discovered by neighbors who had missed seeing her about her home. They found her unconscious in her room. She was admitted to the hospital Tuesday morning. Born June 22, 1868, at Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], she was the daughter of Eddy and Eviette Root Wade. Her youth was passed here. During the past 30 years she made her home in Norwich, where for many years she served as housekeeper for R.D. Eaton. A communicant of the Broad Street Methodist church, the late Miss Wade was active in church affairs. She was a member of the WSCS, WCTU and King's Daughters organizations. Amiable and cheerful, her kindly nature endeared her to all who knew her. A woman of Christian character, she leaves many friends who will earn with sorrow of her passing. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Cora Yale and Mrs. Mary Dexter, Guilford, and Mrs. Libby Gridley, Bainbridge, also several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral and committal services were held at the Robert J. Fahy Funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Thomas G. Swales, pastor of the Broad Street Methodist Church, officiated. The body was placed at rest in the Mt. Hope chapel vault with burial to be made in Guilford cemetery at a later date.
Helen R. (Johnson) Chadwick

Helen R. Chadwick was born in Morristown [St. Lawrence Co., NY], Sept. 14, 1868, the daughter of Thomas and Rozellita Robertson Johnson. She spent most of her life in that village, where she was active in church and community affairs. During the past few years because of failing health she has spent the winter months with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Stapleton in Guilford., where she has made many friends. Besides the daughter, she is survived by two sons, Harold T. Chadwick, of Burlington, Vt., and William E. Chadwick, of Winter, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 13(?) great grandchildren; a brother, Loren D. Wilson of Gambrella, Md., and several nieces and nephews. One son, Robert J. Chadwick, died during World War I. Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Chadwick, William Chadwick, Mr. Wilson and a grandson, Robert Stapleton, have been at the Stapleton home to be near Mrs. Chadwick during the two weeks since she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage on Mar. 9. She passed away quietly on Mar. 24, early morning. A prayer service was held at the Seymour Funeral home Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. C. Duane Butler. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church in Morristown, Tuesday, Mar. 27, at 2 o'clock, the Rev. M.E. Ornum, of Theresa, officiating, assisted by the Rev. H.S. Hill, of Morristown, and the Rev. A. John Skeirik, of Mt. Upton.
John C. Dimorier

John C. Dimorier, 74, of Windsor [Broome Co., N Y], passed away Monday night at Lourdes' Hospital, Binghamton, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Zilpha Dimorier; a daughter, Miss Eleanor Dimorier, both of Windsor; a sister, Mrs. J.B. Wood, of Afton, R.D.2, and a brother, Fred Dimorier, of Guilford. Final rites were held from the Frist Presbyterian Church, Windsor, on Thursday at 2 p.m. with a former pastor, the Rev. Francis Scott, of Montrose, Pa., officiating assisted by the Rev. Robert Fletcher, of the Methodist Church in Windsor. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton [Chenango Co., NY]. Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. Another brother, Prof. Will Dimorier, passed away only last August. Attending from Guilford were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dimorier.
Evelyn C. (Harrington) Hallock

Mrs. Evelyn C. Hallock, 48, passed away at The Hospital, Sidney, Thursday, Nov. 29, 1951, after a brief illness. She was stricken on Wednesday afternoon having been found unconscious by her mother, Mrs. Harrington. Mrs. Hallock has complained of feeling tired and had gone to her room to rest. She was rushed by ambulance to The Hospital, Sidney, but never rallied to any extent. She was born in Guilford [Chenango Co., NY] Aug. 5, 1903, the daughter of Clayton and Charlotte (Backus) Harrington. Mrs. Hallock is survived by her husband Lynn Hallock; two sons, Ray, 10, and Daniel, 9, of Guilford, her mother, Mrs. Lottie Harrington, of Guilford; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Ives, of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Jack Bowman, of Johnson City; three brothers, Earl, of Rockdale, Edward of Mt. Upton, and Seneca of Guilford. She was a member of the O.E.S. of Sidney; an active worker in the Home Bureau and the P.T.A. She will be missed in many ways. Above all else her home, husband and boys came first. Her passing leaves a void that time only can fill. The memory of Mrs. Hallock as wife and mother will be something her family will always cherish. Final rites were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Christ church, Guilford, with the Rev. Robert Anderson, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Sandhill Cemetery, Wellsbridge [Otsego Co., NY]. A service conducted by the Order of the Easter Star, of Sidney, was held Saturday night at 8 o'clock. A prayer service was held at the chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. To the bereaved family the sympathy of the community is extended. m,
