Lillian (Pendleton) Grant
Died March 19, 1940, Norwich, NY
Mrs. Lillian Pendleton Grant, widow of Charles H. Grant, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Chenango Memorial Hospital [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY] after a brief illness.  Mrs. Grant was born Feb. 21, 1859, the daughter of Peleg and Frances Pendleton and had been a resident of Norwich nearly all her life. She received her education in the Norwich academy, was a member of the Congregational church for 60 years and for many years had been a beloved member of the Willing Workers' Circle of King's Daughters. She is survived by four sons, Howard of Cortland, Edwin of Homer, Francis of Williamstown Mass. and David Grant of Norwich, also nine grandchildren.  A son, Olin Grant, died about two years ago.  Services will be held at the Breese Funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dr. G. Edgar Wolfe officiating.

Clara Nichols Grant
Died December 22, 1937, Cortland, NY
Mrs.  Howard Grant, former resident of Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], died at her home, 74 Maple avenue, Cortland, Thursday morning, after a long illness, aged 53 years. The deceased was formerly Clara Nichols, was educated in the Norwich schools and was a teacher in the schools near Norwich for some time.  Her death will be mourned by many friends. There survive the husband, a son, Dana Grant and two daughters, Lillian Grant of Cortland and Miss Dorothy Grant, teacher in the Lake Placid schools.  Funeral services are to be held at the Cortland Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with burial in Cortland.

Kiefer R. Gorham

Mrs. Kiefer R. Gorham, former resident of this city [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], died Saturday noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Ferguson in Oneonta [Otsego Co., NY], after an illness extending over a period of two years. She was 69 years old.  Services are to be held at the Bookhout Funeral home in Oneonta at 3 o 'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Louis VanEss officiating.  Committal services are to be held at Mt. Hope chapel in Norwich. Besides the daughter above mentioned she leaves another daughter, Esther Gorham of Oneonta, two brothers, Howard and Reed Smith of Oneonta and two sisters, one living in Middletown and the other in California.

Loren W. Gould

Loren W. Gould, 66, for 45 years an employee of the Boston and Maine railroad as station agent at Mt. Tom Junction, Northampton and Bernardston, Mass., died Monday, June 28, at Greenfield after a several months illness.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, at the First Methodist church, Northampton, where for many years Mr. Gould served as superintendent of the church school and as a member of the official board, during which time he became an outstanding leader in boys' and young men's work in Hampshire county.  Mr. Gould was born in Preston, N.Y. [Chenango Co.], May 28, 1971.  Following graduation from Oxford academy he taught school a eyar and then went to Northampton, Mass., to enter the employ of the Boston and Maine railroad, retiring from active duty last November, due to ill health. During his stay in Northampton he served as president of the Exchange club and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and at Bernardston was a member of the boy scout committee.  His business, social and fraternal contacts made him one of the most widely known men in the section.  His wife, the former Ella Parsons of East street, whom he married in 1900, died in 1923.  He is survived by a son, Ralph Gould of Scarsdale, N.Y., and a daughter, Mrs. Louis Shumway of Belchertown, Mass. He also leaves a number of relatives in Chenango and Otsego counties, N.Y.
