A Contemptible Scoundrel:  Somebody sent us from Nineveh, Broome Co [NY] enclosed in an envelope, a notice of the marriage of Mr. George W. Butler to Miss Abby Williams, of Nineveh, which was published in our issue of Sept. 22d.  The appearance of the letter and notice were such as to disarm all suspicion, the letter being signed with the name of the Clergyman who was represented to have officiated at the pretended ceremony.  This is the second time we have been thus imposed upon. We will pay a liberal reward for the name of the perpetrator of the dastardly outrage upon the young lady whom it was doubtless intended, thro' us, to insult.  Chenango Union  Any person who would commit such an infamous and cowardly act as the above, should be tarred and feathered and treated to a free ride, on a three cornered chestnut rail, accompanied by a generous cow-hiding.  We hope the wretch may be found out.

The Murder Case in Broome Co.:  In the case of Oliver Howard, who killed his two little boys, in Maine, Broome Co. [NY], it was decided that he was insane, and the Court ordered him sent to the Lunatic Asylum.
