Sad Accident:  An accident occurred in Triangle [Broome Co., NY], on Monday, by which a son of Julius Eggleston, a boy ten years old, was instantly killed.  J.W. Carter of this village [Greene, Chenango Co., NY], driving through the place stopped at the creek to water his horse, the wheels of the wagon being upon the ice.  As the horse started, the boy caught hold of the wagon wheel and put his foot on the felly  and attempted to hold the wheel so that it would slide on the ice.  He was successful until it struck bare ground, then his leg caught in the wheel and he was carried over three or four times, bruising his head, breaking his leg several times, and killing him almost instantly.  Mr Carter was in a top buggy and knew nothing of the boy's taking hold of the wheel till after the accident.
