Memorial Day, 1917
 
Memorial Day was observed in Bainbridge yesterday in an appropriate manner. The day was pleasant, Old Glory was displayed at many residences and business places in honor of the heroes 1861-1865.  Most of the business places were closed in the afternoon and many attended the services.  At 1 o'clock the line of march formed on North Main street as follows:
 
Marshal Frank Phinney
Bainbridge Band
1st N.Y. Ambulance delegation
Sons of Veterans
Veterans in automobiles
School Children
 
The procession marched to Green Lawn cemetery where the graves of the dead veterans were decorated with flowers and flags. 
 
Returning to St. Peter's cemetery the graves of the veterans lying there were also decorated.
 
The afternoon exercises were closed at the monument in the Park and consisted of selections by the band and the G.A.R. Ritual.
 
At the Town Hall Theatre in the evening the following program was carried out:
