Marriages (May 18)

Miss Ruth Neff, formerly of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] and Gerald F. Race, of Binghamton [Broome Co., NY], were united in marriage Friday evening, March 21, in Valois, by the Rev. R.A Gates.  They were attended by the groom's sister.  Miss Emma Race, and Russell Sage.  Mr. Race is employed at the Binghamton State Hospital.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Mar. 27, 1941]
 
Miss Shirley Bushour, of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], became the bride of Clifford White, son of Mr. and Mrs. John White, McClure [Broome Co., NY], at the McClure Methodist Episcopal Parsonage, Sunday afternoon with the Rev. William Miller, officiating.  The bride wore a light blue suit with navy accessories with a corsage of pink roses and forget-me-nots.  Miss Daughn Burtak, a close friend of the bride, was maid of honor.  She wore a navy blue suit with light blue accessories and a corsage of deep pink roses.  Jack Eldred, of Bainbridge, was best man.  Twenty-one guests attended the reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. White after which the bridal couple left for a motor trip through the New England States.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Mar. 27, 1941]

On Saturday evening, March 22, 1941, Bettie Andrews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester F. Andrews, of Bainbridge [Chenango Go., NY], was united in marriage to Archie S. Hulbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Devine Hulbert, of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY].  The ceremony was performed in Franklin, with the Rev. S.E. Sargent, officiating.  Miss Barbara Seymour, of Bainbridge, and Glenn Barnhart, of Sidney, attended the couple.  Miss Andrews was attired in a navy blue gown with beige accessories and wore a corsage of white carnations.  Her attendant was dressed in deep blue and wore a corsage of pink carnations.  The bride is a graduate Bainbridge High School.  Mr. Hulbert attended Afton High School and is now employed at the Scintilla Magneto plant in Sidney.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Mar. 27, 1941]

William Frewert and Miss Verla Baldwin, both of Pine Hill, town of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], were united in marriage by the Rev George E. Youngs, at the Methodist parsonage, Unadilla, last Sunday afternoon, March 23, at 2 o'clock.  The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. John Neidlinger, of Bainbridge. Miss Maye Burdick and Fenner Fields, both of Masonville [Delaware Co., NY], were married Saturday afternoon, March 22, by the Rev. C.A. Ritchie, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Binghamton.  Miss Mabel Lawrence, of Johnson City, and Lloyd Thycis attended the couple.  Following the ceremony, a dinner party for the immediate families was held in the home of Miss Lawrence.  Mixed flowers and a wedding cake centered the table.  The couple left for a short trip and will be at home in Masonville after April 1.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Apr. 3, 1941]

Miss Louise Carlson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson, of Masonville [Delaware Co., NY], and Clarence Jump, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Jump, also of Masonville, were united in marriage in the Masonville Federated Church Saturday afternoon, March 22, by the Rev. Harold Hammer.  The bride was given in marriage by her father.  Miss Lillian Jump, sister of the groom, and Miss Helen Gifford were bridesmaids; Judson Fancher, cousin of the groom, was best man, and the ushers were Frank Jump and William Armour, both of Masonville.  Music was furnished by Mrs. Austin Gifford at the piano, two vocal solos by Mrs. Clarence Stephens and two clarinet solos by Robert Peck.  A reception was held in the parlors of the church, with about 60 guests attending.  After a short wedding trip to New York City the couple will reside in an apartment in the Shoales home, Masonville. Saturday evening, March 22, at 9:30 o'clock at the manse at Guilford Center, occurred the marriage of Miss Doris Winchell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Winchell, of Guilford [Chenango Co., nY], to Erwin Burlison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burlison, also of Guilford.  The Rev. R.B. Gamewell was the officiating clergyman.  Mr. and Mrs. Burlison are at home in Yaleville [Chenango Co., NY], where they have leased the Bertrand Capps farm.
