Marriages (June 30)

Miss Charlotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett M. Van Name, Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], and J. Twitchell Lansing, also of Sidney, were married Saturday in the Sidney Methodist Church.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]
 
Miss Norma, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. George A. Parmelee, of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], was married to Carlton, son of Mr.a nd Mrs. Fred A. Utter, of Sidney, Saturday in the Sidney Baptist church, in a ceremony performed by the father of the bride.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]
 
Miss Catherine Margaret Wheat, of Louisville, Ky. and Lt. Paul Douglas Fairbanks, of Camp Campbell, Ky. and son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Fairbanks, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], were married June 8, in the Episcopal Chapel at Camp Campbell.  The ceremony was performed by Chaplain Clark.  Mrs. Fairbanks is in training at the Norton Infirmary, Louisville.  Lt. Fairbanks graduated from Bainbridge Central High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.  He entered the service in March 1941.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]
 
Miss Marjorie Edgett, daughter of August Edgett, of Unadilla [Otsego Co., NY], was united in marriage to Corp. Harold Marcellus, of Unadilla, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Marcellus, of Unadilla, Saturday, June 12, in Oneonta. The bride was attired in a yellow crepe dress with luggage tan accessories and wore a corsage of roses.  The bride attended Unadilla High School and at present is employed at the Casein Co. of America.  The groom attended Unadilla High School and is stationed at Camp Hood, Tex.  After a short wedding trip the groom left for Camp Hood; the bride will continue her work at the Casein Co.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]
 
Mr. and Mrs. Alson William Coss, of Kenmore [Erie Co., NY], announce the marriage of their daughter, Laura Elizabeth, to Willard Gaeddert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter D. Gaeddert, of Newton, Kan., on June 10, at 7 o'clock in the Kenmore Methodist Church.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Wesley Searles.  The bride wore a gown of white starched organdy with an illusion veil, and carried a white Testament and white orchids.  Miss Dorothea Mae Coss was her sister's only attendant.  She was attired in pale blue taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses and daisies.  Alvin Gaeddert, of Wichita, Kan., brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and George S. Davidson, II, of Pittsburgh, and P. Wardham Collyer, of Buffalo, acted as ushers.  The bride attended Syracuse University and graduated form the University of Buffalo; also she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.  She has been an analytical chemist with Dupont since her graduation.  The bridegroom was graduated from Bethel College, and received his Master's degree from the University of Buffalo.  He is teaching Physics at the University of Oklahoma, and is a member of Sigma Xi and Sigma Pi Sigma, honorary societies.  The couple are at home at 628 West Boyd street, Norman, Okla.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]

St. John's Church [Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY] was the setting yesterday morning for the marriage of Miss Lucy Delello, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Delello, Sr., of Freiot avenue, to Lieut. Larry I. Argiro, of the Engineer's Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Argiro, of Syracuse [Onondaga Co., NY].  The double ring ceremony as performed by the Rev. John J. Toomey, pastor of the church.  The church and altar were decorated with pink and white roses, peonies and larkspur.  The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a white chiffon and lace gown made princess style with a long train.  Her finger-tip veil was held in place with a tiara of pearls, and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses and sweet peas.  The bridegroom's sister, Miss Olga Argiro, of Syracuse, who was maid of honor, wore yellow chiffon and carried a bouquet of sweet peas.  Patsy Delello, brother of the bride, was best man.  A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride for the immediate families following the ceremony.  Mrs. Argiro chose as her traveling costume a red and white print with white accessories and a corsage of red and white roses.  The bridal couple left shortly after the ceremony for a week's trip to the Adirondack mountains.  The bride attended Bainbridge Central High School and is a forelady at the Scintilla Magneto plant.  The bridegroom is a graduate of Syracuse University, Fine Arts and Education, and was art instructor at the local school before his entry into the service July 2, 1942.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 24, 1943]
