Bainbridge Indian Legend
Bainbridge News & Republican, June 21, 1945
George Strong, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], relates the following legend which he heard more than 50 years ago. A giant Indian many years ago crossed this valley on his way to the Happy Hunting Ground. He came over Pryun Hill, stopped on the sidewalk nearly in front of 58 North Main street, next across the river, and again on top of the opposite hill. A large foot print, about a number 12 shoe, is plainly imbedded in the stone walk of 58 North Main street. [Bainbridge News & Republican, June 21, 1945]
