Anita Sejersen

West Bainbridge [Chenango Co.., NY]:  Miss Anita Sejersen passed away Sunday May 24, at the age of 14 years.  Miss Sejersen had been ill with pneumonia and heart trouble but had so much improved that the trained nurse had been discharged seven days previous.  Sunday Miss Sejersen was carried to the dinner table and while at the table said, "I am going to leave you now," and passed away before she could be carried to her bed.  Miss Sejersen was in first year high school at Bainbridge and loved by all who knew her.  The high school boys and girls attended the funeral in a body which was held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Rev. Clarence Carman of Bainbridge officiated.  The pall bearers were Frank Doolittle, Ove Monk, Joe Ireland, Seven Newman, Max Steven and Junior Roider, schoolmates. As the funeral procession entered the cemetery it was haled by the Girl and Boy Scouts and escorted to the grave. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, Bainbridge.  Miss Sejersen is survived by her parents and four brothers and sisters. 
 
Keeler Edward Shapley

Keeler E. Shapley, aged 76 years, passed away at his home on East Hill, Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], early Sunday morning, May 31, after nearly a year's illness.  The deceased was the son of Joseph and Frances Allen Shapley and was born January 12, 1855.  Mr. Shapley was united in marriage to Sarah A. Lyon at Coventry West Corners Fifty-Five years ago.  He has resided on the farm on East Hill for over forty years.  He is survived by his wife, Sarah A. Shapley, two sons and one daughter: Ross Shapley and Ernest Shapley of Oxford and Mrs. Ralph Hinman of Guilford, one sister, Mrs. Grace Hudson of Jefferson, Oregon, and nine grandchildren.  The funeral was held at his home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. J.W. Bump officiating.  The funeral was largely attended. Burial was made in West Bainbridge cemetery.
 
Sarah A. (Lyon) Shapley
1860-1936
Mrs. Sarah A. Shapley passed away Friday, Dec. 18, at the home of her son, Ross Shapley, Union Valley [West Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY], death resulting from a heart attack following an illness of several weeks which had confined her to the bed.  Mrs. Shapley was born in the town of Coventry [Chenango Co., NY] on Dec. 28, 1860, the daughter of Charles and Elvira Landers Lyon.  At the age of sixteen she was united in marriage with Keeler Edward Shapley, of Oxford, and moved there, where she resided until three years ago when she moved to Union Valley with her son, Ross. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. May Hinman, and two sons, Ross and Ernest Shapley; also a sister, Mrs. Carrie Parker, of this village.  The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Colwell Brothers' funeral chapel, West Main street, with the Rev. Bump, of Guilford Center, officiating, followed by interment at West Bainbridge.

At Fort Schuyler, McDougall Hospital, March 31st,of measles, Mr. Joseph Searles, of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], and a member of the 5th Heavy Artillery, aged 33 years.
 
In New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], April 12th, 1864, Merritt [Beldin], only son of Wayne and Rebecca Beldin, aged 1 year, 8 months and 25 days.
The little angel has gone to sleep,
And left his parents alone to weep.
 
In South Plymouth [Chenango Co., NY], May 6th, Mary Esther [Konkel], only child of Jacob and Nancy Konkel, aged 11 years 11 months and 3 days.
 
In New York City, April 25th, suddenly, William W. Kinne, M.D., Surgeon of the 90th N.Y.S. Vols.  Dr. K. was a son of the late Elias Kinne, of North Norwich [Chenango Co., NY].  He studied his profession with Doct. Henry Mitchell, of this village, and had attained some professional distinction in new York.
