Dr. DeForest Whitmarsh
Died June 25, 1956

Dr. DeForest Whitmarsh

Dr. DeForest Whitmarsh, orthodontist who had practiced here for the last 26 years, died of a blood stream infection in City Hospital at 5:55 a.m. today.  He was 60.  Dr. Whitmarsh, whose office and home were at 49 Front Street, was a past president of the Broome County and the Sixth District dental societies.  He had entered the hospital June 13.  He attended Colgate university and was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry.  He also was graduated from the Dewey School of Orthodontia, New York City.  Dr. Whitmarsh was a certified member of the American Board of Orthodontics, a fellow of the Academy International of Dentistry, a member of the North-eastern Society of Orthodontists and of the Strang-Tweed Study Group.  He was a member of the Binghamton Club, the Binghamton Chamber of Commerce and West Presbyterian Church.  He was president of the Silver Lake Association.  Funeral services will be conducted at the Prentice Funeral Home, 55 Main Street, at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Samuel Colman, pastor of the West Presbyterian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery.  Representatives of the Broome County Sixth District dental societies will be honorary pallbearers.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace B. Whitmarsh, his father, Dr. Herbert Whitmarsh; a son, Dr. Stewart B. Whitmarsh, all of Binghamton; a daughter, Mrs. Frank M. Coyne of Madison, Wis; two grandchildren, Melanie Louise and Brenda Ellen Coyne; a sister, Mrs. Earl Valley of Binghamton.

Frank M. Bradley
Died July 28, 1959
Frank M. Bradley, 76, of Star Route, Windsor [Broome Co., NY], died suddenly Monday morning in Afton [Chenango Co., NY].  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Bradley of Star Route, Windsor; four sons, Frank Bradley of Wappinger Falls, Arthur Bradley of Port Crane, Allen and Charles Bradley, both of East Windsor; six daughters, Mrs. Mildred McCabe of Wappinger Falls, the Misses Barbara, Donna, Eleanor, Gloria and Florence Bradley, all of East Windsor; a brother, Walter Bradley of LeGrangeville, NY; a grandson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mr. Bradley was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association.  The body was removed to the Osterhoudt Funeral Home, Harpursville.  

Walter Gager
Died April 15, 1956
Owego:  Walter Gager, 62, who has cared for the horses of Charles Sibley of Binghamton since he was 13 years of age, died suddenly tonight, in a stall which he occupied at the Tioga County fairgrounds.  The man suffered some sort of an attack, and called to a passing child who ran to the trailer home of Mrs. Walter Huston on the fairgrounds, who notified the police.  Dr. Jack Bailey was called and pronounced the man dead on arrival at the fairgrounds.  Death occurred about 6:05 pm.  Mr. Gager's father had been a horse trainer before him for many years.  There are no surviving relatives so far as is known tonight.

Bernice A. Holcomb
Died August 3, 1955
Mrs. Bernice A. Holcomb, 77, of 12 Bromley Avenue, died at 5 pm Wednesday.  She is survived by her husband, Edwin F. Holcomb; a son, Clifford Holcomb of Roselle, N.J.; a daughter, Miss Rhea Holcomb of Binghamton.  She was a member of the Afton Episcopal Church, Afton, and of Afton lodge, OES.  The body was moved to the Hopler & Georgia Funeral home, 483 Chenango Street.

Edward L. Parsons
Died January 16, 1956
Edward L. Parsons, for many years associated with the plastics plant in Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], died Monday afternoon, Jan. 16, 1956 at Sidney Hospital [Delaware Co. NY],  He was 46.  Mr. Parsons was born at Bainbridge May 26, 1909.  He had lived there all his life.  Surviving besides his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Bly Parsons, is a daughter, Miss Virginia Parsons of Schenectady; a son, Bruce, of Bainbridge; his mother, Mrs. Emma Parsons and four brothers, Harry, Robert and Merritt, all of Bainbridge, and Martin of Penfield.  Services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 from the Sherman funeral home in Bainbridge.  Rev. Ruthven Chambers officiated.

BENNETT:  In Binghamton [Broome Co., NY], Nov. 24, 1894, Mr. Edward L. Bennett, aged 61 and formerly of Bennettsville, Chenango Co., N.Y.
