In this town [Greene, Chenango C., NY], on the 22d ult., by Rev. H.W. Gilbert, Mr. Truman A. Southworth, of Coventry [Chenango Co., NY] to Miss M. Libbie Elliott, of the former place.

In Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], on the 4th inst. by Rev. S. Scoville, Mr. Hamilton Marsh, Jr., to Miss Della M. Benslow, all of Norwich.

In Cuyler, Cortland Co. [NY], on the 30th ult., by Rev. S. Carver, Horace L. Barnes, Esq., of East Pharsalia [Chenango Co., NY], to Miss Sarah Angell, of Cuyler.

Death

In this town [Greene, Chenango Co., NY], on the 29th ult. Eliza A. [Wells], wife of Aaron E. Wells, aged 42 years.  

At rest within the silent grave, / Thy spirit with the God who gave;/ Thy toils and sufferings at an end. / Gone home to Jesus thy best friend.

A friend to all so kind and true, / A loving wife, and mother too; / So patient 'neath the chastening rod, / A Christian faithful to her God!

Death of Sheriff StoneMr. A.C. Stone, Sheriff of Madison Co. [NY] expired at his residence in Morrisville [Madison Co., NY], on Sunday night last.  He had been confined to his house for some two weeks previous to his death, with typhoid fever.

An Englishman named Thomas Parks, a week ago Saturday, a few miles from Cortland village [Cortland Co., NY], killed an Irishman named McCarthey, by beating him with a stone.  McCarthey was riding home with Parks, they being neighbors, when a quarrel ensued and Parks ordered McCarthey out of the wagon.  Parks also got out and followed up McCarthy, when the affray took place which resulted in the latter's death.

In South New Berlin [Chenango Co., NY], on the 4th inst. by Rev. A.E. Daniels, Mr. Ray L. Denison to Miss Esther Deming, both of Edmeston [Otsego Co., NY].

In this village [Greene, Chenango Co., NY], on the 31st ult. Ida B. [Smith], daughter of John L. and Lydia Ann Smith, aged 5 years.

In Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], on the 5th inst., Miss Sarah V. Gleason, aged 21 years.

In Brookfield, N.Y. [Madison Co.], on the 30th ult. by Rev. J.M. Todd, Hon. Aldon A. Lewis of Richville, Allegany Co., [NY] and Miss Mary M. Clark, of the former place.

In Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], on the 12th inst. by Rev. Chas. Chapman, Mr. W.P. Chapman, to Miss Mary E. Curtiss, daughter of Rosswell Curtiss, Esq., all of Norwich.

In Afton [Chenango Co., NY], on the 12th inst., by Rev. B.H. Brown, Mr. Lobdell Post of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] and Miss Ormintha Merritt, of Masonville [Delaware Co., NY].

Deaths

In Salem, Ill., on the 9th inst., Mr. A.M. Baker (father of Geo. W. Baker of this village [Greene, Chenango Co., NY]), aged 51 years.  Mr. Baker formerly lived in Hamilton, N.Y. [Madison Co., NY] and was Editor of the Democratic Reflector.

In Norwich [Chenango Co., NY] on the 14th inst., Mr. James Kershaw, aged 65 years.

Found Drowned:  The body of an unknown man was found in the Genegantslet, just below the McMoran Bridge in this town [Greene, Chenango Co., NY], on Thursday of last week, and near by a horse and wagon.  Dr. M.M. Wood, of this village, Coroner, was immediately notified, and he promptly summoned a jury and held an inquest.  The body was identified as that of Job Harrington, of Barker, Broome county [NY].  No marks of violence were found upon the body. Verdict accidental drowning.  Late, the night before, he left this village to go home, and the night being dark he took the wrong road.  It is supposed that he got out of his wagon onto the bridge to find out where he was and fell off the bridge.  He leaves a family.  His age was about 65 years.

Death

Recently at his residenc in Okolona, Mississippi, Rev. Wm. B. Lacy D.D., formerly of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], aged 85 years.
