BLORE - MERITHEW :  In Rockdale [Chenango Co. NY] Jan. 2d, by Rev. H.G. Harned, Mr. B.R. Blore and Miss Ernie G. Merithew.

LEWIS - McFARLAND:  In Smithville [Chenango Co. NY] Dec. 26th, by Rev. H.W. Congdon, Mr. Edgar M. Lewis of Westmoreland N.Y. [Oneida Co.] and Miss Minnie McFarland of Smithville.

Deaths

PHELPS:  At New Berlin Center [Chenango Co. NY] Dec. 26th, Mr. Ely Phelps aged 73 years.

ST. JOHN:   In Guilford [Chenango Co. NY] Dec. 31st, Mr. Heman St. John aged 86 years.

BALCOM:    In Binghamton [Broome Co. NY]  Jan. 6th, Hon. Ransom Balcom aged 60 years.

BACON:   In this village [Oxford, Chenango Co. NY] Jan. 12th, Mrs. Cyrus A Bacon aged 89 years.

Cyrus A. Bacon died at his residence in this village  on the evening of Sunday, the 12th inst., at the age of eighty-nine years.  Mr. Bacon was the oldest resident of the village, and his career as a merchant at this place dates backward more than half a century.  No one now survives who was in business at so early a day.  The deceased until only a short time since could be seen daily upon the street, and engaged more or less in business.  Mr. Bacon held positions of local trust, he was Town Clerk for a number of years, Supervisor of the Town and Postmaster for nearly a quarter of a century.  In all his business and official relations, he sustained a high character for correctness and integrity, and as a citizen was   without reproach.

At the residence of the bride on Tuesday evening, Jan 7th, by Rev. D.E. Loveridge, Mr. Roswell Curtiss, to Mrs. Adelaide Carpenter all of Norwich [Chenango Co. NY]. 

In Norwich [Chenango Co. NY] Jan. 1st by Rev. H.M. Crydenwise, Mr. Fred O. Barr of McDonough [Chenango Co. NY] to Miss Carrie P. White of Smithville [Chenango Co. NY].

 Deaths

In Afton  [Chenango Co. NY] Jan. 3d, Mr. Cyrus  McMaster aged 77 years.

At his residence in Pitcher [Chenango co. NY] Dec. 27th, Col. Isaac B. Allen in the 82d year of his age.

Mr. Heman  St. John one of the oldest inhabitants of Rockdale [Chenango Co. NY] and a pensioner of the war of 1812, died on Tuesday of this week.  In these sporting  days it may not be amiss to mention that in his younger days Mr. St. John has a number of times walked from Catskill to his home in a day, a distance of one hundred miles.  Bainbridge Republican
