Marriages

In Walton [Delaware Co. NY] on the 13th inst. by the Rev. Russel Wheeler, Mr. Aston  N. Wheeler, merchant of Garrettsville, Otsego Co. [NY] to Miss Eliza [North] daughter of Benjamin North, Esq. of the former place.

In Philadelphia, on Wednesday the 23d of March last, by the Rev. Mr. Hughes, Mr. Theophilas E. Gubert formerly of Middletown in this county [Otsego Co. NY] to Miss Ann Maria [Roberts] daughter of Thomas S. Roberts, Esq. of that city.

Death

In Kortright [Delaware Co. NY] on the 1st inst. Mrs. Sarah Goodrich wife of Jared Goodrich, Esq in the 51st year of her age, after a painful and lingering illness which she bore with Christian fortitude and resignation.  The deceased was endeared to all who knew her, for her amiable manners and the fidelity with which she discharged all the duties appertaining to the wife, mother, daughter and friend.  She has left a disconsolate husband and a family of interesting children to mourn the irreparable loss.

In Walton [Delaware Co. NY] on the 4th inst. Miss Elizabeth Griswold, only daughter of the late Thomas W. Griswold, aged 34 years.  Aware of her approaching dissolution, she felt the circumstances of her last illness to be ordered in great kindness and looked forward with resignation and humble confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this town [Delhi, Delaware Co. NY] on the 8th inst. Lucinda Jane [Mabie] aged 11 days and on the 12th inst. Betsey Ann [Mabie] aged 15 days, daughters of Mr. Peter Mabie.

In Andes [Delaware Co. NY] Mr. George T. Jerome of New Hartford [Oneida Co. NY], to Miss Jane Paine daughter of Mrs. Moses Paine of the former place.

Deaths

In Ceres, McKean County, Penn. on the 6th inst. James Wright, Esq formerly of Colchester in this county [Delaware Co. NY] and father of Mr. Henry Wright of this village [Delhi, Delaware Co. NY] aged 64 years.

In this village [Delhi, Delaware Co. NY] on Sunday last of the whooping cough, James Pratt [Hunt] son of Mr. John Hunt aged one year and 7 months.

February 12 by Rev. M.S. Mealie, Mr. H.D. Ingersoll of New York and Miss M. Augusta Rose of Delhi [Delaware Co. NY].

Deaths

At Hartwick [Otsego Co. NY] Feb. 6, 1879 of consumption, Daniel Richards brother of R. Richards of Oneonta [Otsego Co. NY], Aged 51 years.

We know that he is happy / With his angel plumage on, / But our hearts are very sad / To think that he is gone.

Daniel Richards of the white house district, died last week of consumption.  He has been for a long time in feeble health.  His funeral services occurred on Saturday last at the M.E. church in this village.  Sermon on the occasion by Rev. A.J. Cook.

Hartwick, Otsego Co. NY:  The funeral services of Arthur Luther take place today at his residence near Hinman Hollow.
