Her parents were sent for and no pains were spared that ample means could provide or kind friends and skillful physicians devise for her recovery, but with no avail. The disease proved to be brain fever, which continued for three weeks when on Friday evening the 28th ult. she passed away. The heart stricken parents mournfully returned to their home with her lifeless form and on Monday of the present week, many sympathizing friends met to pay their last respects to the departed one, who was especially endeared to the Sabbath School of which for years she was a regular attendant.

Sweet rest to thee, our little con, / Our darling boy, our Jamie / Sleep softly by thy sister's side, / Our cherished little Jamie.
Two little forms of human clay / Are mouldering on earth's pillow / Two radiant beings wait for us / Beyond death's stormy billow.
Oh Father! In thy pitying love, / Look on us in compassion / And heal our hearts, so sorely tried, / and still each stormy passion.
