In Kortright [Delaware Co. NY] on the 28th ult. James A. Roberts only child of Merrits S. and Adelia A. Roberts in the 8th year of his age. surely the hand of affliction hath touched them.

Deaths
In Oneonta [Otsego Co. NY] on Monday the 10th inst. John Fritts in the 75th year of his age.
Death has again entered the ranks of the aged, and taken an old and respected citizen, John Fritts. "Uncle John," as he was familiarly called, was an old resident of this town; was a man of integrity and always bore a good name and was highly respected in the community where he so long resided. He leaves a large circle of mourning friends.
In this village [Oneonta, Otsego Co. NY] on the 8th inst., Wallace Blakeley aged 26 years.
Suspected poisoning Case: A young man named Enos Shrauger of Delhi [Delaware Co. NY] died in Cannonsville [Delaware Co. NY] on Thursday the 22d ult, in great agony and under circumstances which indicated the presence of poison. Suspicion rests upon George McIntosh of Hamden [Delaware Co. NY] who was indicted recently for assisting Becker in breaking jail and against whom young Shrauger would have been a material witness on his trial. McIntosh was arrested at Bloomville [Delaware Co. NY] on Monday the 26th ult. and is now in custody.
Murder of Delawarian in California: We learn from a California paper that E. H. Bush formerly of Hobart, Delaware County [NY] was murdered in Long Valley, Cal. the 7th of Oct. last. It was supposed that Mr. Bush was killed on his return from Virginia City to which place he had been on business. He came to his death by a gunshot wound in the head. The ball took effect in the forehead. A second wound was found in the neck near the collar bone. A large yellow dog was found dead by the body of Mr. Bush. He having no such animal, the dog was supposed to have belonged to the murderer.

In Walton [Delaware Co. NY] Aug. 3, Helen M. [Armstrong] aged 51 years.
Last Saturday afternoon Miss Lizzie Abbey aged about 24 years, a music teacher residing at Shokan [Ulster Co. NY], was crossing the railroad be ridge at Boiceville [Ulster Co. NY] when, missing her footing by the breaking of a rotten plank, she fell between the ties, striking the rocky bottom about 25 feet below, injuring her so badly that she died in about an hour.
On Friday last, William Gibson aged about 83 years, residing about two miles east of Hobart [Delaware Co. NY] was engaged in drawing hay, when the load upset, throwing Mr. Gibson off, the wagon coming over and one of the wheels striking him in the back, breaking the spine. He lived about twenty-four hours and was conscious although there was no feeling in his body below the fracture. The portion of the body above the fracture gradually brew numb until he died on Saturday evening.
