The funeral of Merton D. Secor, for many years a resident of Afton [Chenango Co., NY], was held Thursday afternoon, in the Afton Methodist Church, of which he was a member. The services were conducted by his former pastor, the Rev. Harry Brooks, assisted by the Rev. W.S. Jones, and were largely attended. Acting as bearers were Bruce Keaton, Jay Bonnell, Ray Hacher, Lee Drake, Lewis Fredenburg and Jere Jenks. Merton D. Secor, son of Homer and Helen (Lamb) Secor, was born Jan. 12, 1879, in Otego [Otsego Co., NY]. The early years of his life were spent in that vicinity. On July 1, 1916, he was married to Otisena Keach at Afton. Mr. and Mrs. Secor took up residence in Afton where he was employed as clerk in Horton's hardware and at the Ansco factory. After receiving the appointment as maintenance foreman of the Highway Department, Mr. Secor left the Ansco, continuing the job as foreman for 14 years. For the past 20 years, Mr. and Mrs. Secor and son, Merton, Jr., have made their home on Algerine street. Early last February, the deceased contracted an illness and his health gradually failed. He passed away Sunday, May 17, at 11 o'clock. He is survived by his widow, Otisena; three sons, Homer, who is with the United States Army in the Hawaiian Islands, Edgar, of Booneville, and Merton Wilson, Jr., who is also with the United States Army in Hawaii; and four grandchildren, Everett, Betty, Barbara, and Homer Secor, all of Booneville, and Merton Wilson, also survive.

Albert Seeley, 54, died Wednesday at his home in Rogers Hollow [Otsego Co.,. NY]. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Seeley; a son, Philetus Seeley of East Guilford; a brother, William Seeley of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Seeley of Afton and Miss Emma Seeley of Washington, D.C.; a nephew, William J. Seeley and a niece, Miss Juanita Seeley, both of this city. [MHD Notation: Feb. 26, 1941]
Miss Emma May Seeley, 66, died at her home in Washington, DC, Saturday. She is survived by a brother, William Seeley, of Binghamton; a niece, Mrs. Juanita Kelley, of Binghamton, a nephew, William J. Seeley of Binghamton. The body will arrive in Binghamton today and will be removed to the Hopler and Georgia Funeral home, 483 Chenango St. [MHD notation: Nov. 30, 1959]
Mrs. Harriet May (McRoy) Seeley passed away Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in her home at East Guilford [Chenango Co., NY] at the age of 59 years. Mrs. Seeley had been in her usual health and had walked to the near-by store during the evening previous, before suffering a shock which occurred about 10 p.m. Friday night. Mrs. Seeley was born June 1879 in Hallstead, Pa. She was married to Albert Seeley on Feb. 6, 1916 and to them was born one son, Charles Phileatus, who is at home. Besides the husband and son, she is also survived by one sister in New York City. Mrs. Seeley was a faithful worker in her earlier years in the Afton Baptist Church and she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Ladies' Aid Society and a loyal worked in the East Guilford Church since the family moved here about three years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Sutton, a former Baptist pastor of Sidney, officiated. The body was placed in the Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] vault for burial later in the Spring. [MHD notation: d. Mar. 11, 1939]
Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Seeley, wife of Albert Seeley, were held at East Guilford church at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. D. Marvin Sutton of Sidney, officiated. Mrs. Seeley was stricken with stroke Friday and passed away at her home about 4:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. She was born 59 years ago in Halstead, Pa. About seven years ago she came to Sidney [Delaware Co., NY] from Afton [Chenango Co., ,NY]. After four years' residence here, she went to East Guilford [Chenango Co., NY], where she had since resided. She was a woman respected in the community and a devoted Baptist. Mrs. Jessie E. Seeley, 62, died in Afton [Chenango Co., NY], Saturday evening after a short illness. She is survived by a sister, Miss Emma Seeley, of Washington, DC; a brother, William Seeley, of Binghamton; one niece, and two nephews. The body was removed to the Karschner Funeral Home in Afton, where friends may call. [MHD notation: Feb. 23, 1953]
Mrs. Lucy A. Seeley, 78 years of age died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Will Seeley on Orchard street Tuesday. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Emma Seeley of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Seeley; two sons, Albert Seeley of Rockdale and William Seeley of Binghamton and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Seeley, Friday at 2 P.M. [MHD notation: Dec. 15, 1939]
Mrs. Lucy Adkins Seeley was born June 11, 1858 at Colesville, N.Y. [Broome Co., NY] the second daughter of Pomeroy and Eleanor Hawkins Adkins. On January 1, 1886 she was united in marriage with Elmer Seeley of Coventry [Chenango Co., NY]. They resided near Coventry for several years and here their four children were born. After the death of her parents, they moved to the old home place. While in Coventry she belonged to the Congregational Church but later the distance from the old farm was too great for regular attendance. Although never a leader, her desires and aims were for right living. In 1906 they sold the farm moving to Afton, where she resided most of the time on East Main street. She transferred her church membership to the Presbyterian church. After the death of Mr. Seeley and she became too feeble to stay alone she was with her daughter Jessie Seeley. Besides the above mentioned daughter, she leaves another daughter Emma of Washington, D.C., two sons, Albert of Rockdale, N.Y. and William of Binghamton, also three grandchildren.

Mrs. Wesley Seely eldest daughter of Albert S. and Rebecca L. Clapp, was born in Coventry, N.Y. [Chenango Co., NY], January 30, 1855. Her early life was spent in that town. She later attended Afton Union School and Academy, preparing herself for teaching, which vocation she followed until her marriage o April 15, 1875, to Israel Wesley Seely of Afton, N.Y. [Chenango Co., NY] To them were born three children, Charles W., Will E., and Hattie May. Though in frail health for years, she lived to survive her eldest son and her husband by a number of years. In her latter days, she spent four years with her daughter in the daughter's home in Citronella, Alabama. They then returned to the old home in Afton where she wished to spend her last days among old friends and neighbors. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a kind friend and a true Christian. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Afton. To mourn her loss, she leaves, besides her son and daughter, a sister, Mrs. H.M. Mayhew, of Farmington, Conn., and a niece, Miss Olive Bassett, of Carriere, Miss. [MHD notation: Aug. 31, 1936]
Mrs. Wesley Seely, 81 years of age, died at her home on Pleasant Avenue, in Afton [Chenango Co., NY], on Monday evening, August 31, 1936. She is survived by a son, Will E. Seely, and a daughter, Miss Hattie May Seely, of Afton; and a sister, Mrs. E.J. Mayhew, of Farmington, Conn. Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with Rev. Clifford E. Webb of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery [Afton, Chenango Co., NY].
