On Sunday afternoon, November 6, 1904, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Slater of Bennettsville [Chenango Co. NY], Lizzie E. Slater was united in marriage to Charles M. Dewitt of Binghamton [Broome Co., NY], Rev. A.E. Holmes of Masonville officiating. Friends were present from Binghamton, Schenectady, Masonville and Bennettsville. Miss Doris Hotchkiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Hotchkiss of Tunnel [Broome Co., NY], and Gordon Totman, son of Mrs. Abbie Totman of Cincinnatus [Cortland Co., NY] were unite din marriage in Afton, Saturday, October 28 at 8:30 p.m. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. Webb. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Muzzy of Fical's Corners. The young couple will reside in their new home at South Otselic. [LMD Notation: 1939]
The wedding of Paula Estella Price and Orville Frank Dean of Masonville [Delaware Co., NY] took place at high noon on Jan. 19 at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Edwin Price, at Sidney Center. One end of the family living room was arranged as a bower. A cluster of large wedding bells hung in the center with tall seven-candle stick candelabra on either side. Pink gladiolas in vases of graduated height flanked the candelabra. Prior to the ceremony Nina Cass VanOrsdale of Unadilla played "Romance" by Zitterbart and "By the Brook" by Coffman. She then gave a beautiful rendition of "I Love You Truly." The wedding procession, timed to the strains of Wagner's "Wedding March" from Lohengrin, was led by the bride's brother, John Burton Price. On his arm was the maid of honor, Mrs. Marguerite Lord, of Oneonta, sister of the groom, wearing a corsage of yellow roses. The bride on the arm of her father, and carrying a bouquet of pink roses, was followed by her mother on the arm of the groom. The beautiful double ring ceremony was impressively conducted by the Rev. George N. Underwood of Bainbridge, long-time friend of the bride. Witnesses of the ceremony were the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank O. Dean of Masonville, and daughter, Betty; A.L. Lord, brother-in-law of the groom; Mildred Price, sister of the bride, and Elwin Skiff, the bride's uncle. Following the ceremony, a wedding luncheon was served and Mr. and Mrs. Dean left for Washington D.C. Sidney Center [Delaware Co. NY]: Miss Verna Esther Dalton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Dalton and Kenneth Carlson of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY] were married Saturday night at the home of the bride's parents with the Rev. George Youngs officiating under an arch of evergreens and pink and white pompoms. The bride, given by her father, was gowned in light blue moire and carried an arm bouquet of pink roses. Miss Winifred Dalton sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and wore a gown of old rose silk and her bouquet was talismans roses. Phebe Ann Fuller and Wallace Elbert Ireland Jr., niece and nephew of the bride, acted as flower girl and ring bearer. Harold Rosa of Bainbridge was best man. The bridal party entered to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, played by Mrs. Theodore Fuller. The bride is a graduate of the Unadilla High School and for the past several years has been employed at Bainbridge. Mr. and Mrs. Carlson will make their future home in Bainbridge where, as well as here, they have a host of friends who extend best wishes. [LMD Notation: 1939]
Mrs. Eva Swingle, of Rockdale [Guilford, Chenango Co., NY], daughter of Donald Swingle, and Thomas Joyce, also of Rockdale, were married at the Methodist Church, in Oxford, Wednesday afternoon, May 1, the Rev. Norman B. Graves, officiating. The attending couple were Ellen Swingle, of Rockdale sister of the bride and Harley Prindle, of Sidney. Mrs. Joyce is an inspector and Mr. Joyce a machinist at the Scintilla Company in Sidney. [LMD notation: 1940]
